This thing backs a punch! Full bodied, peppery bit with a fruity finish. Love me some Cali Syrah! — 4 months ago

Tierra Alta Vineyard Syrah 2018

Blackberry, anise, wood smoke, hints of blueberry, a thread of olives throughout. It’s Cali Syrah putting off a little N. Rhône vibe. — 8 months ago

Alta Maria Vineyards

Santa Maria Valley Chardonnay 2014

@Delectable Wine - This is the Bien Nacido Vineyard bottling.

Second bottle of this confirms my impression of the first: this wine has aged beautifully. Ridiculously complex nose has pear, wet Burgundian earth, toast, moist straw, a lactic note, and spice. If served blind, I’d likely place it as a premier cru from Pernand. In the mouth, it’s still fresh and youthful seeming, with a crisp feel and deep flavors. Not an ounce of fat. Really nice
