En Chevret Volnay 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2020
Stunning nose. Super aromatic, complex and spicey with a subtle herbal edge that is so so pretty. My goodness this is so pretty. Perfumed. Mashed violets and some wet earth. Insane sweetness on the attack followed by great acidity and freshness and some big tannins. This is more large scaled and structured than the Mitants. Terrific length and a sense of seriousness. Very deep and very young. This has exquisite fruit (mostly dark red cherries and black cherries) but the structure is dominant now. I’ll be back as this airs. With some brief aeration we’ve got stunning rose petals now. Dark red roses. Sweet late season red cherries as well. Super impressive inner mouth aromas and super explosive. Wow.
After many hours open this is stunning. 9.5 to 9.6 and and this is just brilliant and has that supernal balance that only elite wines have. Stunning fruit. Insane. So pure and so sappy. Genius. — 3 years ago

Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir 2020
Another brilliant Bourgogne Cote d’Or from this rising young Burgundy young gun. Bright lifted nose of mid season cherries with some dark red cherries thrown in the mix and a lipstick like intensity. Floral. Like fresh dark roses. Lovely stoniness In the background. So pure and clean. Really just a remarkable nose. Luscious, deep and layered fruit. Palate is remarkable. Juicy, luscious, succulent and deep with huge red cherries, some darker red cherries and superb balance and incredible purity. This is better than the 19. Awesome awesome wine. Just so good. What one wants. That mouthfeel is a knockout. Huge mid palate and lovey treacly texture. So much mid palate amplitude. Stunning. As this airs the nose gets soil tones and you get even more flowers. This is a remarkable bottle of wine. Potting soil. But fresh and wet. So complex. — 4 years ago

Hummus, tastes like Montalcino of your dreams. Light on the palate but not lacking for acidity or tannins.
Can’t wait to wait on the rest.

Huge expansive red and black cherries on the nose that are super pure. Just stunning clarity here. Big time cotton candy and also Fun Dip. Stunning depth of aroma and my goodness it is so pure. Palate is super pure, teeming with energy and limestone and wonderful black and red cherry fruit but presented with a pastille like texture. So sapid and deep. Really opening up from its 18 slumber. Super juicy and wonderful acids and big but firm and ripe 18 tannins. Long finish. Will be back as it airs. Super mineral finish. — 3 years ago

Amazing wine. Nose of citrus, apricots, slate, pink grapefruit, the slightest hint of honey, tree bark and orange zest. Just an incredible nose that is expansive, expressive and complex. Awesome purity and sap. Luscious palate with terrific framing acidity and super pure. Longer than it should be and my goodness this is so balanced. Like on tightrope. What a stunning value this is. Just gorgeous wine, and perfect for a gloomy overcast day. The length cannot be stopped. As this airs it gets so much more tense and the acids become more prominent and wash the palate. With mega air this becomes dense and chewy and the dry extract is just incredible. Almost a 9.6. Like and tangerine flavors and such zestiness and length. Great structure suggests decades of life. — 3 years ago

Cuvee Cassaneas Bourgogne Blanc Chardonnay 2021
Yes. Just yes. Nose is super confectionary and has outrageous pure meyer lemon drop. Gorgeous minerality. Wonderful honeycomb with air. Elite elite elite. There is a primal aspect here that hasn’t been in previous vintages. Lanolin like. Palate has stunning depth, power, concentration and sapidity. Unreal tension. So so electric and the finish is epic. As usual Chassagne 1er cru quality. So juicy and complex and supernal balance and purity. So fresh and deep. Genius. Flavors are all tense green apples and a hint of delicate and sweet citrus. Has that roundness allied with tense acidity and periodic table of element levels of minerality. The balance is god tier. Genius. What one wants. As this airs the finesse just thrives. 9.5 — 3 years ago

Granted it’s new glasses and I haven’t done a hth.
P: Cherries, Strawberries, tarry viscosity, ready to go after 2+ hrs out. Delicate tannins present, a dark, brooding wood/soil quality is there. Almost chocolate on the nose when you sip. As this airs, tannins build.Nice acidity balance, beautiful wine

Awesome aromas. Dark blackberries. Game. Meat. Olives. Garrigue. Smells thiccc! Wow what pure blackberry fruit. Palate is so good. Hedonistic Syrah fruit with huge crushing tannins that are perfectly ripe. This is a big boy. So slippery and sexy though. Amazing finish that is highly detailed and delineated. This is a blackberry bomb though at this early stage. Love it. Massive concentration and fruit soak. Awesome velvety and sweet tannins. Mineral/granite tinged finish. But needs air. As this airs the granite really comes through on the nose. Love these wines. — 4 years ago

Abbaye de Morgeot Chassagne Montrachet Premier Cru Chardonnay 2019
First taste of Brisset 19’s and starting BIG. Ahhhh that nose. Gorgeous lemon oil, super discreet oak, sea air like minerality, just so airy and expansive. Unreal clarity and depth. Elite. Super elite. 9.8 nose out of the gates. It’s been open 5 minutes. This man is a god amongst men. Stunning. Balance and purity on this is ridiculous. Concentrated and no hard edges. None. Oh my this is elegant. Elite elegance and chock full of minerals. Structured, deep, salty and saline. Luscious and round. Killer acids but so well integrated. Round and chewy and really very complex already. Such a long finish with lime zest, green apple, flowers and extreme minerality. So sad Pierre made so little. This seems more young and backwards than the 2018 at this point. Will be back as it airs. The elegance and no hard edge quality signals this is the 1% of Burgundy. As it opens it becomes more compact and just a single unit of brilliance.
Wow so sappy and there is a mineral sweetness now. This is bonkers. 9.8 to 9.9 after 15 minutes.
9.9 to 10.0 overnight. More of everything. Just insane. If you get offered this by me and refuse it you’re off the list. — 5 years ago

Good. Wants some air. Not as much concentration as I’ve been used to for a Beauj of this price point from Morgon, but the other thevenet wine we had was from morgon and was a lot lighter than anticipated so maybe it’s a winemaker style? Lots of raspberries and this interesting briar note on the end, the back end doesn’t have as much going on but… I did have the majority of the bottle without letting it air out a bit. Wife wants to do a side by side with their morgon to compare the stemmyness. Worth a check definitely, makes me want to try more regnie but also solidified my adoration for morgon. But the more this airs the better it gets. Will have to revisit. — 3 years ago

Just a stunning and unique nose of startling originality. Wild mint, flowers and pollen. Marzipan. Really floral like a flower shop but also the pollen is really there and really unique! Stunning. Deep slate and minerality behind it all. Genius. The vividness and accuracy of the aromas is blowing my mind. 9.9 nose. Just magical. Smells Tolkienesque. My god how elegant this wine is and super fresh. Intense, exploding minerality and endless depth. The acid is perfection for all the wealth of material. Length is stupid long. This glides on the palate. What a mid palate and an almost tannic grip on the finish. This initially is 100% mineral on the palate and I’m curious if it will fruiten up. I know it will. That finish is full of pulverized slate and keeps going and going. Amazing concentration and mouthfeel. The acid is so straight. Doesn’t go up or down, weather stays right down the middle of the plate. I love this when. So unique, delicious and exciting. I’ll be back as it airs out. — 4 years ago

Oh man what a great bottle of wine. Stunning nose of cherry flower, gorgeous smokiness, some high end leather, sopping red cherries, so deep, so high quality. Wow, what fruit. So decadent yet fresh and such energy! Really loads of cherries and just so so pure. Awesome purity. Velvety tannins and they just pump that sweet, pure fruit onto your palate. Invigorating, luscious and so so good. As it airs nose has a lipstick like intensity to it. One of the best BR’s ever. Terrific concentration sap and sweetness but finishes very mineral. — 5 years ago

My favorite Pernand 1er Cru. Classic nose of dark cherry fruit, brambly berry fruit, wild mint, spearmint, desiccated leaves, sous bois and citrus rind. Very complex and pure. So Fichots. Grippy, gritty, silky and dense with dark cherry fruit and forest floor inner mouth aromas and silky but substantial tannins. Needs air. Wonderful. As this airs the tannins smooth out and the energy increases as does the length.
