This is cool bottle for us. It was the last vintage under Helen Turley and also the last vintage where she used fruit from Three Sisters vineyard for a vineyard designate for her own Marcassin brand. Golden yellow in color the wine is extremely aromatic with vanilla, butterscotch and orange marmalade exploding from the glass in full throttle. The entry is full, lush and smooth. There is an incredible viscosity to the wine. Stone fruits and citrus dominate with a slight sweetness (not surprising given the pic on the right), but this is quickly balanced with a distinct minerality. There's a lot of Oak on this but the minerals and acidity combine to create an amazing harmony. The heartbreak of only having this one bottle is setting in. Will be curious to see how recent vintages stack up under their current winemaker. I remember tasting this for the first time 3 or so years ago and this is definitely one of those wines I'll remember. My other half and I are about to go to WAR for the last glass. — 8 years ago
Recommended to 3 people at the bar. Held up well to a steak sandwich. 9.6 to its big brother reserve. 9 bones a glass gets a minimum 9.0. Dig it!! — 10 years ago
Excellent visit down to the bottom of the Cotes de Blancs; to see Charles Fourny of Veuve Fourny et Fils; fifth generation maker in Vertus; 500 ha region and one of the largest appellations in Champagne; with his passionate double, brother Emmanuel; tasting modern grower Champagne based on chardonnay; with texture to avoid high dosage; typically 3-6; and one zero; time and preciseness make the difference; plus 40% reserve wines for palatability; this is the House NV; #champagne #vertus #veuvefourny #grandereserve #blancdeblancs #uncorkedandcultivated #wineandfoodtour #france2015 — 10 years ago
Flat out gorgeous. It needed two days of air (1/3 of the wine was left generously by my dear brother) and opened up great! It softened a bit, and really came together in such a perfect way....Marvelous nose....black cherry, wood polish, dusty classy notes of leather, books, sawdust, underbrush, a fresh newspaper. Such great balance and tension. A class apart. — 8 years ago
This run of about 13 PHENOMENAL wines I'm posting are from the SQN wine dinner/WNH interview I did at @Shawn R 's house last night. I was like a kid in a candy store on Christmas. What an absolutely EPIC night! Love ya brother!
Gotta be honest...I loved this way more than I was expecting to. Not only did Shawn host us for an SQN Raven Series dinner, he opened this up to get the whites started! Amber in the glass. Aromatics were mainly aged honey and a bit of caramel, but the body, texture and finish of this wine is where it shined. Rich honeycomb coated the palate, a surprising amount of acidity to the finish with hints of lemon cream. This is a top 3 white wine for me. Can't imagine trying other vintages. — 8 years ago
This wine holds a special place in my heart. Made by the 3 Momtazi sisters. I myself am 1 of 3 sisters! #Biodynamic Oregon Pinot, 100% estate fruit, featured in wine critic Eric Asimov’s NYT column several vintages in a row. Bright tart cherry core, silky smooth tannins, and sweet earth. Solid and soulful. — 9 years ago
Gravelly rocky vyard with old scrub waist-high vines. Benito Dusi Ranch farmed by Benito since 1940s (older brother Dante owned vyard twice as big and half as old.... Turley/four vines/J.Dusi origins). Oldest vines in Paso. First winery to put "PasoRobles" on a wine label est 1969 (not officially AVA until ten years later in the 80s) so keep it as appellation for historical purposes even though it's a single vineyard. 3 miles south of 101. 25acres/92-years old planted in 1922. Head trained, 2.6t/a. Purple floral nose; Dark, brooding, black fruit, molasses, tar, and barrel spice on the palate. Robust well knit tannin. — 9 years ago
I had this wine with my brother Steve at the Capital Grille in Paramus, N.J. on 3/19/15. Another Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. It was very nice. A little pepperish but very smooth with a clean crisp finish. Not too bold or overpowering. Pleasant after taste. — 10 years ago

Yup. Here it is. The first half of the 2006 Raven Series from Sine Qua Non. So quick story...I'm a big of a nerd when it comes to wine research and when Shawn said he had the full horizontal of the Series, I contacted the winery to see if they could give us extra details on the wines (3 Grenache, 3 Syrah). To my amazement, I heard back from them, and I got the craziest news...the Raven Series is only 2 different wines...yes, that's correct. They made one Grenache and one Syrah, but wanted to utilize different artwork, so the 3 bottles of Grenache were all the same and 3 bottles of Syrah were all the same! I think there might be some noticeable bottle variation, but who knows. As for the wine itself, it was elixir. It was Velvet. It dominated all your senses. Violet flowers, peppercorn, dates and plums ruled the nose and finish. I could taste this wine more than a minute after each sip. — 8 years ago
The second wine of this superb vineyard lighter body than the "bigger" brother, exquisite blend possibly from a more gravely part of Grave making this behave more like a left bank btw the food here is not bad...worth all 3 stars! — 8 years ago
Juicy and succulent tastes of red apple peels and light tangy raspberries. It is what a solid Pinot Noir is; not overpowering and plenty of juice to compliment a myriad of fruits. My brother brought around Chinese roasted pork and goodness did the fruit enhance the richness in the pork. It did get overpowered by the copious spice in the 3 spice chicken. Nicely done. — 9 years ago
Tonight we had family over for dinner and my brother in-law and I opened this very nice 2005 Bordeaux. A Bordeaux Superieur that drinks like a more expensive Bordeaux. The nose started out very hot with lots of alcohol. After letting set for about 30 minutes a nice black cherry started to come forward along with stewed prunes, some licorice, tar, and a smokey oak. On the palate the cherry, licorice, black currants and prune/raisins. A very silky smooth mouth feel with minimal tannins. I believe I picked this up for around $17-18 bones. Very nice and should last another 3-4 years. — 11 years ago

Love these wines. Touch of CO2, hint of reduction. Sonnenheur is a sundial in the center of Juffer, planted at an 85 degree angle above the ville of Brauneberger. The village was renamed in the 1700’s to reflect the brown slate soil of the hill that dominates the landscape. The vineyard was planted in the 1600’s and largely managed and run by 3 “spinster” sisters until the Haag family started farming it in the 1700’s. — 7 years ago
