Revisited one of my old favorites. This #zinfandel is very dark in the glass with deep purple hues. The body is heavy and compact with a somewhat fresh and cassis like. Tasting a savory component as the seed. Mildly tannic, moderate acid. #wine — 5 years ago

I’m not that into this one. It HAS TO BE ICONIC. But Iconic leads to over extracted over sexed over. Just lacking finesse. Lacking intrigue. Don’t get me wrong. It’s delicious and I don’t mind drinking it and can age in the bottle but it’s missing it’s MOJO. #petitesirah #alicantebouschet #zinfandel and #carignane #sonoma #sonomacounty — 6 years ago
Smells delicious but a bit lighter body than you would expect, hot alcohol and a bit jammy as it’s lacking tartness. For a value #zinfandel I like the Bogel I’ve tasted recently much better. That being said, Scott Harvey sets the standard for Amador County Zins. — 6 years ago
I’m becoming a bigger and bigger fan of quality mid-priced reds with one or two decades of bottle age. #sierrafoothills #zinfandel 25 years in, not surprised to be greeted by nutty sherry, caramel, toffee notes on nose. No primary bramble fruit aromas left. Palate was delightful with unexpectedly sturdy acidity, ghostly traces of tannins. No fade on second day after uncorking proving this wine could go even more distance. Paired well with plant-based pepperoni pizza. — 2 years ago
Young quality #zinfandel #petitsirah blend by Ridge - blackberry pie filling, vanilla and other sweet spices on the nose; beautifully balanced fruit and acidity ending in grippy tannins. Methinks this wine would be better laid down for 5+ years. — 5 years ago
#bourbonbarrelaged #zinfandel
I can smell the bourbon barrel used to age this wine. The palate has #junkinthetrunk, black fruit, and smoke. Be sure to decant this wine. Not the best pairing with chili half-smokes. 8.5 out of 10 — 5 years ago
Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful. #zinfandel #easytodrink #beringer — 6 years ago
I’ve visited this lovely #drycreekvalley #zinfandel boutique producer in November of 2019. Usually I steer clear of heavily extracted, hot wines like this but it works so nicely here - a plush wave of plum and blackberry compote laced with baking spices and pepper, smoky undertones, bitter dark chocolate, but finishing with generous acidity. It’s definitely hot at 15.4% ABV but it’s delivered in a velvety tannic luscious mouthfeel package. — 6 years ago
#lodi #zinfandel - blackberry jam, stewed plum aromas. Nicely concentrated in the mouth with the cooked dark fruit theme continuing, fair bit of acidity but more coffee, dark chocolate notes than I expected and very subtle spice. So many great old vine Zins out there in this price range - this one doesn’t stand out. #wsjwineclub — 6 years ago
Pleasantly balanced #zinfandel. More subtle than expected bramble fruit nose. Beautifully restrained Zin on palate - succulent acidity, some vanilla, toasty oak notes, characteristic spice on the finish. — 3 years ago
I admit I have been avoiding tasting this wine given the mass-market appeal and ubiquitous availability. After keeping in wine fridge for several days after opening under a vacuum rubber stopper, tried it tonight with pizza. Pours quite viscous, almost Port-like, clearly shows as a big extract wine in the glass. After warming up, finally getting some blackberry pie filling and other blue/black fruit notes. Bigger feel in the mouth, surge of that dark fruit plus some bitter chocolate, coffee notes and pronounced peppery spice plus cocoa on the finish - clearly a big dose of ripe #zinfandel in this blend. Unfortunately there’s not enough acidity to offset the hot 15.5% ABV nature of this juice. I can see why it’s popular and at the same time I confirmed it’s not my kind of wine - feels like a throwback to #parker-influenced Napa red blends from the early 2000s. — 4 years ago
I concur with @Byron C Mayes - good QPR #lodi #zinfandel here. The 2018 vintage looks to be even hotter than 2019 at 15% ABV. Airing it out and a day in the wine fridge helped. Heady blackberry pie filling nose, syrupy mouthfeel from that high alcohol, coffee and dark chocolate flavors mid-palate. There’s less of that expected Zin spice but enough acidity to keep things interesting. Definitely recommended for ~$9 at Total Wine if Zin is your thing. — 5 years ago
Hints of oak, good oak and smoke on the nose. Doesn’t seem like #zinfandel seems more like old vine #grenache #garnacha #ravenswood — 6 years ago
I love it. #carignan #carignane #zinfandel #petitesyrah #syrah #alicantebouschet #monastrell #garnachatintorera #mourvedre #barbera #sonoma #sonomacounty it has this complexity and balance due to the blend that intrigues me and keeps me coming back for more. #ravenswood also incredibly fresh for 2014 vintage. Can age. — 6 years ago

Saturday with a beautiful 2010 Pagani Ranch Zinfandel from @ridgevineyards in California, USA 🇺🇲 🍷The wine is a blend of 82% Zinfandel, 16% Alicante Bouschet, and 2% Petit Sirah. 14.9% ABV.
Intense aromas of raspberries, blackberries, cherry and some red currant on the nose. It also delivers notes of vanilla, spices and some thyme. It is smooth in the palate with a long finish. Medium-plus tannins and acidity. Still a great bottle! 🍷
From the vineyard's history: "Since 1991, Ridge has made zinfandel from the old Pagani vineyard on the east-facing side of Sonoma Valley. Almost all the vines here were planted more than a hundred years ago." Cheers! 🍷

Just about the best Zinfandel I’ve had in quite a while. Excellent balance of fruit and floral flavors. A light, but refined texture. It was an outstanding accompaniment to Thanksgiving dinner at my daughter’s new home. Got his at the winery for $60. #zinfandel #pasorobleswine #pasowine #thanksgivingwine — 7 months ago
