This is not a mind bending powerhouse of a wine. It isn't especially complex or sophisticated, but rather reflects the simplicity of the quaint countryside of Utiel Requena from which it hails. Named after the esparto grass native to the region, this Tempranillo is intricate in other ways: Grown on healthy, pesticide free vines surrounded by swaths of land solely dedicated to natural habitat and biodiversity. Little to no manipulation in the winery (no oak, #nosulfites, #nativeyeasts). And bet you didn't know that Bodegas Iranzo is the oldest estate winery in Spain dating back to the 1300s! So if you have expectations of a wine, this might not be the one for you. But if you appreciate authenticity and want to experience real #terroir, there's no better value on the market in my opinion. — 8 years ago

2015 Pietranera Pantelleria Bianco (87 pts) #winereview - This wine jumps out of the glass with floral aromas of acacia and rose. Quickly followed by tropical fruit lychee and watermelon rind. Also the telltale musky aromas of Zibibbo (aka Muscat of Alexandria). The palate is bone dry with medium acidity. The palate is not as expressive as the nose, but there is a strong minerality to the wine that you don't get out of a lot of Muscats (Yay Volcanic soil!). The finish is moderate length. This is a pleasure to drink but really needs to be at the perfect temp as too cold and it's less expressive and too warm it comes across a bit flabby. #wineterroir #wine #terroir #winereview #winelover #winegeek #winetasting — 7 years ago

Leading from saline - dark berry skin, mace, plum pit. Light to medium in body, with peppery acids and tannins.
A classically good CDN table wine, you just have to let it open for a couple of hours and know what you are getting into.

Dandy #cabernetsaugvinon from France and an IGP at that. It has that #terroir taste from France, medium heavy body and dark berry fragrance. Acidity is balanced with fruit and mouthfeel - short finish but soft tannins. I really like this wine. — 7 years ago
