October birthday celebrations for my father-in-law, sister-in-law and my wife this past weekend!
My father-in-law has a nice collection of older Napa cabs and he wanted to check in on this. I found it to actually taste fairly young. There wasn’t as much punch in regards to the flavor of the fruit (lots of blackberry, currant) but the tannins were very much in play. Reminded me of a right bank Bordeaux, actually. Dusty graham cracker, blackberry, potpourri. Secondary notes of leather and herbs are starting to come through on the finish. — 7 years ago
Seven Stones was the wine of this market visit to Napa. For me, it is the very definition of why I drink wine. Great fruit that is not overworked and is the Webster’s Dictionary of elegance, even at this young age.
On the nose; beautiful dark & medium red cassis. Ruby in style with amazing florals. Blackberries, dark cherries, raspberries & blue fruit mix. The red florals are so engaging, They possessed me for quite sometime before getting to tasting the wine. Soft baking spices with understated vanilla.
The body was medium full. Tannins unbelievably soft, silky and elegant for such a young wine. The fruits picked at the perfect ripeness. Such elegance! Creamy and ruby fruits of; cherries, dark cherries, creamy raspberries and wafting blue fruits. Soft spices, dry crushed rock powder, delicate volcanic minerals, touch herbaceous, whiff of black olive, dry soils, beautiful red roses and violets. The structure firm yet delicate as was the tension. The length and balance in perfect harmony. The long, polished finish simply amazing. Especially, in a wine this young.
Photos of; the property with the seven stones from Yosemite that are held together by gravity and weight 100,000 pounds, and two other artworks from the owners amazing art collection and the view from their terrace. — 7 years ago
Discovered in my wine collection this 18 year old Tempranillo crianza from Altos de Rioja. Worried about having gone bad. As soon as as uncorked it knew it was fine. Cork was fine and got a burst of bouquet. Amazing for an inexpensive young Rioja to be so good. Smooth and velvety as Tempranillo should be. Good with grilled red snapper. Life is good. — 8 years ago
Very fruity but solid legs and deep purple colour. Goes well with a light meal. — 5 years ago
Very good for a 2017. Paired excellently with some prime rib. Not necessarily a complex wine but rich for a young age cab. — 5 years ago
One of the best wines I’ve had in a while. Wonderful nose and smooth taste from start to finish. — 7 years ago
Nice Amerone! A little young but drinkable. Notes of dark cherry, tobacco and cassis. — 7 years ago
Still young but what a heck of a Cab!! Oh my, so bright, rich, earthy, berry, drink now drink later! And for the price unbelievable! Loved every bit of it — 8 years ago
Yummy road pop gifted by Michelle at Young & Wyse. Amazing especially after breathing for a couple of hours. — 9 years ago
OMG!!! If you’re lucky enough to own one of these (or are super lucky to own a case) drink it! It’s at its prime or just past - amazing structure and balance. Beautiful young fruits and acid on the front, amazingly long in the mid (like watch-a-movie long) and an expected, but rarely fulfilled finish and mouthfeel! This is an exceptional bottle and if anyone on here feels they have a few too many in their collection I’ll gladly make it worth your while to taste this Victorian princess again!!! — 5 years ago
Seriously, Malibu. Do you have to use an inch of wax to seal every bottle? You're really making me work for this one. Ripe black cherry and baking spice entices the nose. Young bright and fun on the palate. It's definitely equipped for aging across the decade. Just have a machete handy to bust through that wax. Paired tonight's offering with a massive rare tomahawk steak. Nom nom. — 7 years ago

1999 vintage on Dec 16,2017 (from a private collection). Appeared surprisingly young but mature on the palate. Refined and elegant with lingering notes of dark berries. This shows that some Oregon wines are age-worthy. — 7 years ago
Feather is 100% Cabernet. This is made in coordination with Randy Dunn. On the nose, dark, lightly spiced currants. Black oil, loamy soils, black licorice and fresh floral bouquet. On the palate, the mouthfeel is thick & rich. There's a good presence of wood shaving. Rich, ripe blackberries, dark cherries, candied black plum, plum, black raspberries, loamy soils, dark rich moist earth, leather, tobacco, spice-box, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, vanilla, black licorice, violets and fresh red florals. Acidity is round and mouthwatering. The structure is big. The tension perfect as is the balance of fruit and earth. This is definitely a Parker wine. It's so easy to drink young, yet will cellar 10-15 years nicely. Photos of the tasting rooms hand blown glass lighting...lit up. For those that dismiss Del Dotto wines - think again! This wine was perfectly ready to drink immediately upon uncorking with a soft, warm vanilla oak surrounding mature dark fruit. The wine’s richness and balance were more like a Haut Brion than a young Napa cab! Still there are tannins that will soften in the cellar, so balance you temptation to empty your collection! — 4 years ago
