What a great way to open your palate. Time has been kind here, with youthful energy and boisterous fruit tamed and replaced with precision and elegance, especially in the mid-palate. Still plenty of fruit and brioche, and the whole package is lovely.

The Gimonnet Special Club Millesimé de Collection 2002 is the very picture of refinement. Crisp, classical notes freshly cut apples, pear, honeysuckle, and a whispy touch of smoke. The attack is lively, with brisk bubbles carving a wide swath trough richly textured layers. The flavors are quite understated, rather, it's more about subtlety and balance—a concise, pure vinous frame with traces of ginger, white grapefruit, minerals and wet dough. Disgorged July 31, 2012

Great wine from PG. I would recommend drinking sooner rather than holding. Rich mousse, hazelnut, pear, red apple, yeasty - the autolysis is very apparent.

Delicious! I wouldn't hold this as long as a lot of '02s as it is completely open for biz already. But enjoy it for the next 5-10.
