I’ve loved the wines from Alpha Estate for years but this was the first time trying the SMX blend. It did not disappoint. Full-bodied and dark, it produced flavors of blackberry, plum, chocolate, vanilla, and earth. Definitely needed some air before opening up fully, but it could have spent another couple of years in the bottle. 60% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 20% Xinomavro. 4/29/25. — 7 months ago
Tasted at Vine Styles. Loved it — 3 years ago
On the nose it reminds me almost of nebbiolo but a tiny bit more fruity. Blood orange, strawberry, a tiny bit of oak, this is very inviting. The palate is extremely well balanced, there is acid, yes, but there is width and fruit, there is a drying layer of tannins in midpalate (not unlike the ones you can find in noble piemont niebbiolo wines) along with a soft, expanding mouthfeel, and there is a long finish with that drying layer, those nice fruit notes that linger for a long while. This is really good! — 4 years ago
The Greek wines were the best of the bunch!
The Rapsani had cigar box, burning wood, barnyard, cherries, and campfire. Lovely!
The last wine was a dessert wine that was brown in color and contained massive caramel. Very thick and sweet, but refined. — 5 years ago
Super nice nose ! Very fruity with blackberry, raspberry, a bit of tar, a bit of bread yeast, a bit of pine sap. I could have called nebiollo on the nose. The palate is juicy and fruity with nice raspberry and blackberry notes, some width, some matter on the side, some dusty tannins that leave a drying layer over a nice amd fruity finish with a tiny, nice bitter note that adds a nice level of complexity to an otherwise youthful and playful wine. Good stuff ! — 7 months ago
Reminded me of the song “pink” by Aerosmith: happy, slightly silly, pretty. Loving it. — 3 years ago
