90% carmenere, 10% cabernet sauvignon
Wooden aroma. Aftertaste of Cabernet sauvignon, drank it too cold :-( — 8 years ago
Comforting leather shoe polish meets cranraspberry on the nose. Palate of fresh green cranberry, mineral and crushed rock. — 8 years ago
Lovely cherry fruit and classic Cab Sauv characteristics lead to a massively tannic but well integrated melange of bitter Bordeaux terroir on the finish. Leather, shoe polish, ink, gritty black pepper. Interesting and different from my usual bottles, but reminds me in general why I think my money is better spent in other appellations. — 9 years ago
Light, served in a wooden box, cherries, black currant , mild fruit- smooth flavor with a crisp. — 10 years ago
Anything 2008 from the Napa / Lodi ate a is a shoe-in for taste. — 11 years ago
Velvety with prickly blackberries, stewed plums, licorice, billows of cigar smoke and ash and chewy cedar. Leather, shoe polish, cured meat, and tar on the nose. Layers for days. Probably could still go for a few more years. — 11 years ago
Loved it, opened the wooden box to see how the dozen was tasting... I'm excited for future years of drinking this one. — 11 years ago
Fresh green pepper and succulent ripe blackberry on the nose. Balsamicky goodness, makes you think it should be super thick in consistency but it carries a light delicate mouthful. Yummy yummy. Pour this over your salad, your pork chop, in your bath, any place that needs the soft spots marinated. Likey, likey. — 8 years ago
Dark berry fruit with a little shoe polish accent. Decent intensity through the mid-palate, and finishes with a little grainy, mineral flourish. Certainly no CdP but pretty tasty. — 9 years ago
Inky wine from rim to rim. Charred boar ragout, marigolds and violets, in cedar planters. Chunky baker's chocolate baking, teak, black shoe polish, burnt mocha rye, mint in turned soil scribbled on by grape scented marker. Smoked plum, worm castings, raw chocolate, espresso grounds, graphite dust. Oak and pepper belched from an arcane volcanic sacrifice. Wood tannins mushroom and coat the tongue. Next year's harvest might be a lock with this kind of dark dedication. #crozeshermitage #crozes #rhonewine #syrah #purpleteetharesexy — 9 years ago
Served chilled in a wooden box, smooth, bold with peach fruit and vanilla notes. — 10 years ago
Lingonberries, strawberries, leather and wooden tones. Impressive clarity of flavour. Like an autumn day in the woods bottled for my enjoyment. — 11 years ago
Smoke, plums, old shoe leather, and raspberries. — 11 years ago
Great work. Natty PS, done really well...a little marsanne to boot — 12 years ago
Had a wooden feel to it, is how I would describe it...think I prefer the other George...J thinks should age some more — 8 years ago
I reaaaally like this. Tastes like an old shoe. But the good kind like you want. — 8 years ago
Wonderfully rounded. Smells of shoe leather and wet dirt. In a good way. — 9 years ago
All tertiary aromas. Hay, leather, shoe polish, sawdust and cedar, rounded out with a subtle note of still-present fresh raspberry and chalky tannin. Drinking beautifully. — 9 years ago
Very much alive after 50+ years with aromas reminiscent of cherries, dried plums, licorice, orange peel, cedar akin to an old wooden cabinet, old leather, tobacco, earthiness, minute hints of celery and fennel, a slight veil of oxidation that adds to a slightly spicy beef broth undertone. Amazing dense oily texture to the wine but it still remains quite light, sour red fruit flavors as it enters the mouth with some blackberries, the midpalate reveals some savory beef broth notes mixed with balsamic notes that continue on to the long lasting spicy finish with discrete creamy notes. — 11 years ago
Drier than Bedouin sand shoe. #madeira #madeiramydear — 11 years ago
Stunning. Punching well above its weight. Step right up, take a swirl, find a new aroma. Blackberries, cherries, plums and currants. Oregano, leather, shoe polish and cinnamon. Acidity? Check!, Tannin? Check! A baby at 4 years. Going to get another bottle or 2.. I'll see you guys in 10 to 15 years.... wow — 12 years ago

I'm usually not a fan of white but this was amazing. Notes of citrus, melons and a hint of honeysuckle — 14 years ago
