What a contrast to the 04 alongside. Chalk and cheese. Polish and gorgeously delicate and soft. Plush hints of corn and lemon oil with delicate acidity. Perhaps lacking in structure but still beautifully fresh, rounded, sophisticated and complete. Excellent given the hot vintage. — 9 months ago
Château Musar Bekaa Valley Rouge 2000: Medium-bodied. Medium acidity. Elegant structure & balance with silky, integrated tannins. Bordeaux nose with evolving layers from dark to red fruits. Dried herbs. Spice. Tobacco. Earth. Long smooth finish. All in all, this wine was drinking perfectly. Hitting all the right notes even at the 22 year mark. It doesn’t get much better than this delicious, exotic beauty. What an amazing & memorable vintage & wine! Great day to all! Cheers🍷 — 4 years ago
Just had this in Bordeaux a few weeks ago. Like most wines of this vintage it took a bit of imagination to fully appreciate. It is clearly time to drink this wine, it may be on the downhill side of life. Overall a good experience for what was not noted as a premium vintage, but is a very solid wine. — 7 years ago
What a wine! Big, dark, creamy and powerful. Absolutely delicious and everybody loved it! — 8 years ago
What a treat! A Salon vertical from vintages 10yrs apart. The release of only 30vintages over the past 100yrs is a testament to the pursuit of quality. This 1985 was very much alive and kicking. Tons of layers of white fruit toasted honey covered nuts.#primetimewinetime #右上の会 — 8 years ago
Had an op to re-buy at $115 and wanted to check in on the 2006. What a nice rendition. Perhaps not the best vintage overall, but in really great shape right now with the typical tobacco aromas. Needless to say, I am buying more — 5 years ago
Fortunate enough to have tasted this along with 6 other stunning wines last night during a cellar tasting. This 36 year old 2nd growth was nearly perfect, unusual but very pleasant mint, camphor, crushed sage and rosemary aromas with the same cooling delicate herbal initial palate. Dried but expressive red fruits mid- palate with a great structural graphite element throughout. Whiff of new leather. Changed in the glass showing different mellow facets. Pretty much intercepted at the exact right time. A real privilege to taste such a renowned vintage with folks who appreciates what was in front of them. — 7 years ago
Quick funny story:
Christine & I are LUCKY to have Kelly work in our office but we are BLESSED to be able to consider her and Darryl as dear friends.
We recommended to Kelly, prior to her going on vacation in Charleston SC, that they should stop by the Belmont hotel. They have a bar and restaurant that is 2nd to none in that area. Christine & I LOVE it!!!! Kelly sent me a quick text to say “hey, we’re at the Belmont! And about to have dinner!”
Being the goof ball that I am..... .....I called the Somm and said “I don’t care what they ordered, bring them a Shafer Hillside Select with some age on it!!!”. 10 minutes later he was decanting a 2003 Hillside Select table side! I love that hotel! Incredible service, incredible food and always a phenomenal experience! The only thing better are-our friends that are there right now!!!!
I didn’t Have a drop of this wine but I am scoring it a 10 based on experience alone!! It must have been “Badass in a Glass” as I always say!
I’ll let Kelly and Darryl fill in the official tasting notes!
by the way Kelly: don’t love SC tooooooo much, Christine & I can’t operate that place without you! See you next week! 👍👏👏👏👏👍

What a great refined wine. The 2018 Insignia opens with aromas of dark fruit, florals, and spice. On the palate, blackberry, mocha, and plum come through with a nice texture and tannins. The finish is long, savory, and elegant. Wow! — 9 months ago
Exactly what I’ve come to expect a nice rosé to taste like. Never disappoints. — a year ago
17 vintage is drinking perfectly now.
Nose displays rose hip syrup and barrel toast. Mid palate is soft, round and plush. Maraschino cherries and opulent sweetness complete what is an excellent finish for the vintage. Tannins are integrated, and there’s not much acidity at this point. Overall, excellent. — 5 years ago

Brownish tawny. Regal, clear and almost opaque. Sweet old Bordeaux nose. Notes of cola, cranberry, plums, dried fig, earth, spice and some wood. A bit thin in the mouth at the start but with air it firms up. Decent finish. Grows nicely in volume and impact. The fragrant nose is what you remember. — 8 years ago

From a magnum - still so fresh with sour cherries and dusty tannins. What a treat. — 9 years ago
Okay, I get what all the fuss is about. Hard to believe that something so layered and 'sweet' can have such refreshing acidity. Like being inside a leaking beehive during the lightning storm — 9 years ago

The kind of wine you never won’t to end… just sensational. What a beautiful expression of Napa and the wine was drinking beautifully with 15 years of age. — 5 months ago
