Strong and very earthy. A bit untamed with mushrooms throughout — 7 years ago
I know it’s become a bit of a cliché...
It IS rather dear for a rosé...
The cult of Kermit and all that...
...but it remains a benchmark. It’s SUBSTANTIAL, for one, you don’t want to gulp it down, it’s 14% ABV and so marvelously complex. Nose is strawberries, herbs, brett. Palate is more strawberries, watermelon, slate, brett, moss, garrigue. Bitter finish with a bit of zing. It’s wild and untamed, yet sophisticated—Keith Richards in a tuxedo. — 7 years ago

Something of the wild and untamed that so much Pinot in the world is missing — 8 years ago
Big, boisterous somewhat wild and untamed nose of wild berries, some sour cherrie, mashed flowers and some sweet violets. Great nose albeit needs 20 minutes to integrate. Terrific freshness and acidity with ample sweetness and detail. Nice structure that suggests 3/5 years this could improve. Lovely wine and Raquillet is a master of Mercurey. — 8 years ago

Hard to pick a fave red from Grosjean but this is up there...pale red with thrilling high altitude aromatics and acidity, juicy ripe cherry, dried flowers and herbs, animal and spices. Not quite rustic but definitely alive and untamed. Makes me dearly want to visit this rugged part of Italy — 8 years ago
Smooth and flavorful without a long finish, but a nice one. — 9 years ago
funky as hell! and maybe a little untamed. but still fun and so affordable. — 7 years ago
What an amazing blend! This is a strong, funky wine that slaps you right in the face! Bright purple/magenta, sediment, lots of viscosity, powerful nose sees ripe cherries, oak, vanilla, cured meats, palette sees bright ripe cherries, lots of acid, medium+ tannins, high alcohol finish. This is an extreme, untamed, wild wine in every sense. Enjoyable, invigorating! — 8 years ago
Delightfully untamed, savage, aroma of well-hung game (which you know you like). This baby stinks but give it a few swirls in your glass and it’ll start to sing sunshine like it’s chateauneuf neighbors. — 8 years ago
Wild and untamed, bright acidity, candied apricot — 8 years ago
Very dense inky left bank. A lot of green pepper, spice, and tannin lead the way into plum, licorice and blackberry flavors. Very long finish. Tannins not quite integrated but getting close so I would give it a few more years. As it sits, however, it has a and untamed rustic characteristic that is still very enjoyable. — 8 years ago
dry, mineral finish dark fruit — 7 years ago
A bit untamed early, but really smooths out an hour or so after decanting. — 7 years ago
Young, shows the vintage from the grenache but the extra dollop of SM is helping this out. I like the dark, brooding black/blue fruit component, a little sexy. Loads of spices across the board. Some astringent tannins need to furl out, there’s some compartmentalization going on structurally that needs resolve for that ultimate CNDP hedonism train but for now I like the muscles it brings to the table. Raw power and untamed, perfect match to unapologetically rich/rustic food with the same personality. — 8 years ago

Bouquet of citrus, rocks and spring meadow. Palate opens with a spritz of mouth puckering lemon and adds apple cider, baking spice, marzipan, white flowers and fennel to the mix. Bangin’ but could use a few years for the raging untamed acidity to settle down. Note—this is actually mostly Gros and Petit Manseng in case you’re a stickler for indigenous Basque grapes — 6 years ago
