After opening world class wine all evening this wine held it ground and turned heads! — 8 years ago
The wine was double decanted and we tasted it after three hours later. On the nose, a touch of pepper, soft spices, blueberries, blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, black raspberries, black plums, rich dark soils, light vanilla and fresh and decayed dark soils. The 2011 is very lean. It tasted like it had 10-12 years of bottle age rather than it's 6. Not to say that the 11 is turning just yet, but I certainly don't believe this is going to be a long cellar vintage. Soft fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, blueberries, black raspberries, black plum, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, crushed dry rock powder, very soft leather, mid intensity volcanic minerals, lightly brewed coffee, strawberries come on later and acidity that could be better. The 2011 is not going to hold up as many of the other Insignia vintages do. It's already not as rich and full bodied as other vintages at 6 years of age. On the long finish, it's already showing some fig, date and prune qualities. Photos of their big dinning room and some wildly fragrant white roses on the back terrace. — 8 years ago

Smooth flavor, fruity, sweet but not too sweet — 10 years ago
Leather and cherry cola. Vinyl. — 8 years ago
It's beginning to taste alot like Christmas.
Like riding the waves of California Cabdom on Noah's oaken arc filled with two of everything: blackcurants, rocky minerality, blackberries, turning strawberries and dried eucalyptus. — 8 years ago
2004 vintage. This Spottswoode second label shows incredibly well after 13 years. Deep colour, turning slightly orange at the rim. Beautiful nose with blackberry coulis, mocha, dark chocolate and a mineral hint ( lead pencil). Surprisingly concentrated (young vines), profound with still lots of multi-layered black fruits, good balancing acidity and an impressive finish with retronasal aromas of blackberry coulis, licorice and coffee. Irrestible and incredible value. — 8 years ago
Nice! Juicy with notes of oak and vanilla. 😀🍷 — 9 years ago
Initial noise of clove, rosemary and lavender turning to sweet smokey BBQ meat. Black and blueberry attack with a stemmy finish. Missing the chocolate I tasted in the last bottle. Very enjoyable!Apologies for the wrecked label... Incompatible rack/bottle sizes. — 9 years ago
Chardonnay: tropical fruit, butterscotch, pineapple, peach, nectarine. Oak character. Rich texture and a creamy mouth-feel. — 9 years ago
Excellent. Sweet but not overbearing. — 10 years ago
Popped 1 of my 3 bottles to celebrate two friends turning 50 at Factory Kitchen. 50 year old California Cab with finesse, balance, and though I wouldn't expect it to improve over time, it was fantastic and quintessential old school cab from without a doubt one of my favorite California producers. Just lovely! — 10 years ago
Liked it so much I had to try another bottle. Founded in 1972 by a group of lawyers and doctors from San Fran turning their passion for wine into a business. A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 2% Malbec & 1% Cabernet Franc, aromas of dark red fruits, spice and nutty notes. Plum and cranberry flavors with espresso, cedar and cacao tones, good balance. Fine tannins that need decanting first, lingering ending with sweet spice notes. Consistent. — 8 years ago

Another #tourdefrance first for me. Stage 8 heads through Jura so we had this fortified white wine. Some raisin and hazelnut notes but a bit more fruit driven than a Sherry. Nice flavor. — 8 years ago
A special dinner for turning 40. This wine was the star. Transformative, floral, violets, mushrooms, dried cherry...blah blah blah. You can taste the horses as they walk the rows. The sun on the vine. The essence of the grape. Pure terroir.... — 8 years ago
Cheap and smooth Chardonnay. Refreshing. — 9 years ago
Nice and sweet — 10 years ago
"1983 (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)"
so my darling and I
make love in the sand
to salute the last moment
ever on dry land
our machine has done its work
played its part well
without a scratch on our bodies
and we bid it farewell
starfish and giant foams
greet us with a smile
before our heads go under
we take a last look
at the killing noise
of the out of style...

Only back home for three days since our grand excursion, oh Burgundy how I miss you and your beautiful landscapes with tiny villages.
(I don't miss how tall my damn grass grew in the lawn during our absence!)
Flinty nose with beautiful white flowers.
Flint, minerals, lime-honey on the palate, acidity is noticable but not distracting. Finish is like forever. We will attempt to restrain ourselves from drinking this whole bottle this evening, as based on recent Saint Aubin tastings, this will continue to evolve with air and patience. I feel this bottle is still young, many years ahead for enjoyment.
Thanks @David T for turning me towards Lamy... I'll be back for more!
24hr Update: So creamy, beautiful Chardonnay fruit, yellow apple, faint flinty notes today, acidy is still noticable, and enjoyable. I'm not sure I like it more or less than the initial approach, it's a different, also great, wine today. — 7 years ago
