The 1996 Dom Perignon is a revelation at now twenty three years of age. On the nose this takes on some spectacular range from Challah bread tones to lemon zest as well as Pink Lady apple and candied ginger. Once on the attack this shows formidable weight and tension, while this seamless wine effortlessly dances across the mid-palate. Ripe Japanese pear, brioche, lemon zest and wild mushroom flavors collide with the strong salinity and minerality. A true heavyhitter, this wine has many rounds left to fight, but is simply intoxicating at this stage in its development. Drink 2019-2040- 98 — 7 years ago

Deep purple and violet in the glass. Complex but very tight wine which took 2 hours to smooth out. Wonderful Cabernet flavours but heavy tannins indicate that it probably should be left for a few years yet. For now it's a great wine but if you're going to drink expect it to put up a fight as it would rather be sleeping. — 8 years ago
In short, surprised and underwhelmed. The nose is absolutely gorgeous: fresh blue berries and whipped cream. After that, resembles CA in the first few rounds of the Alvarez / GGG fight. Decent attack but weak mid palette. Tannins are spot on, however. If this were a bit more ripe and had more horsepower on this finish it would be far more interesting / enjoyable. — 9 years ago
There is not a better domestic chard in this price range, fucking fight me you won't do it coward — 9 years ago
I made a comment about "high-octane fuel" a little earlier, and based on the aromatics, prototypically, this is it.
Aromas of syrop du cassis, rich black fruits and anise prepare the palette for what is to come. The experience in the mouth does not disappoint. It's plump with a luscious mouthfeel. Not overly done. It's heavily extracted, but still presents harmoniously with bright acidity, tannins that fight back and 14.8% abv. Hints of coffee, jam compote and nutmeg finish with power, yet subtlety.
This is my first taste of their cab, and PM have again jammed a quart into a pint pot.
On a different topic, America, please join the rest of the progressive nations and use the metric system. There, I feel better already.

Smells earthy but it’s light at fight and finishes juicy tart — 8 years ago
Nose of twilight - dark fruit and leather.
Deep, dried plum, fig , prune. The acid and tannins are both big, bold, and have no issues with shyness. The finish is in your face in a full on fight club. May be a bit smoother in 5 - 10 more.. still quite good now, decanted 4 hours.

Wine 0️⃣6️⃣
Sassicaia 09 from Carlo Terruzzi
📝 We had to fight my wife to get any of this as she adored it 😎
Lovely rich deep cocoa driven dark fruits that showed awesome potential - drinking 4.5⭐️ but will be a stunning 5⭐️ in 5-7 years & my wife says 5⭐️ as her WOTN & it will be 5⭐️ in time 👍
Check others notes but I'm buying some (I've been ordered to 😂) & I even kissed (or licked) Carlo for this - thanks Carlo for sharing this & costing me a fortune 👅 — 9 years ago
Fight night got better! — 10 years ago
Its been way too long since having this in my glass. Reductive at first, but plenty if aeration won the good fight, its black cherry and currant notes meld well with its peppery and granitic bite. Such a singular varietal especially in the hands of the master. Perhaps this had a touch more tension than I remember, this was quite wound up and almost had a serious side than previous experiences. — 7 years ago
Very Good quality wine, rustic and rowdy, but with a structured and dense backbone, tannic!? Yes! But with plenty of fruit, florals to make it alive. Somewhat wearying alcohol and without food you’re up for a good fight. Decent complexity and good length — 7 years ago

Smells amazing. Tastes better. It's the X-Men of BC Cabs. It's something you didn't think would jump so effortlessly from bottle to tummy. It's inhuman. It's a mutant. It's fighting for truth and drunkenness for those who can't fight for themselves. Wow. Thanks Charlotte. — 9 years ago
A Barolo to find and hold. Picture perfect in the decanter (3hrs). A Sunday wine, like a perfectly braised lamb shoulder. Getting better as it breathes. The nose is all Barolo. Complex dark fruit. Spice. Pepper. Cherries. It attacks the palate and then immediately softens with a blackberry finish that leaves the perfect amount of heat behind. The tannins are integrated and silky and suggestive of a long life ahead. This minuscule production wine is amazing and you should fight to find it. I was sad when we finished the bottle. — 9 years ago

Less complex than the ‘14 and ‘15, but an absolute truffle/porcini/umami bomb. Riveting, long and spoiling for a fight. Superb, even though it’s a touch chunky. — 7 years ago
