Color : White
Wine estate : Coca I Fitó
Designation : Terra Alta
Name : Jaspi d'Or
Country : Spain
Vivino : 4/5
Note : With 80% of Grenache Blanc, it's almost like a white Châteauneuf. A golden robe, a peachy nose. Once in the mouth, the floral side is revealed with candied citrus notes. Beautiful minerality and expression. — 7 years ago
In physics, the Coriolis force is an inertial force that acts on objects that are in motion relative to a rotating reference frame.
In wine, Coriolis is a Willamette Valley Pinot Noir from Maggie Harrison's Antica Terra.
The back label says "The mathematical expression for the Coriolis force appeared in an 1835 paper by French scientist Gaspard-Gustave Coriolis, in connection with the theory of water wheels. This wine takes the name Coriolis and with it the symbol of the water wheel: a manifestation of the conversion of free-flowing energy into useful forms of power. One hundred percent of the profits from the sale of this wine are donated to charity. In this way this wine supports the conversion of ideas into powerful actions that serve a greater good."
One of those charities is Phil Knight's Cancer Challenge, so I guess you could say this wine is helping to cure cancer. If that's not reason enough to drink it, the wine is drop dead gorgeous. Opens with wild fruit purity of cherry, red currant and even then pushes towards raspberry, which leads into a salty minerality that plays really well off its subtle floral and citrus tones. While it's loaded with tart fruit and even citrus acidity, it finishes with length and exceptional silkiness, a testament to its balance. Beautiful. — 7 years ago
Excellent roussanne from Maggie Harrison at Antica Terra. Nose has great notes of honeysuckle and other aromas that I can only describe as classic roussanne (because I’m just not good enough to ascribe aromatics). The palate has a terrific oily character to it, but was dominated by primary, relatively unevolved flavors. Still really good, but I suspect this is going to get so much better with a few more years in the bottle. Let it sit. — 7 years ago
Less oak than I expected and I liked that. Gorgeous, pretty, restrained. Delicious. — 5 years ago
This is a fantastic red! I bought it for my 40th birthday in July, but hung on to it. Perfect Valentines Day wine! — 5 years ago
Drinking fantastic! Even a touch better than the ‘12 I had a few months ago. Smoked meat and charcoal with underripe blackberry on the nose. Definitely an herbal/stemmy note on the mid palate with some cedar too. Big without being dense. Thanks @Dan Fitzgerald — 6 years ago
Delicious Chianti with bright cherry notes — 7 years ago
Happy to find this wine when I did. Showing tons of “other than fruit” characteristics on the nose, this wine smells older than it is. Little bit of bret, but the good kind! Dark black fruit and olive tapenade waft out of the glass while blackberry seed, tobacco and black cherry leaf the way on the palate. The body is full in the middle but lean on the edges because of the bright acidity which lifts the wine throughout. Drink now through 7-13 years! — 7 years ago
Bigger than I usually enjoy but worked well with spicy Italian food. — 7 years ago
Well balanced and full bodied. I want more! — 8 years ago
2015 in 3/20. Glorious!!!! Soooooo wish I bought more of this. Skin contact Zibibbo from AUSTRALIA!!! 13%. 70 yr old Bush vines. 150 days in clay. Stone fruit, cooked citrus marmalade, ginger-esque something. So aromatic, delicious and fun!! Need more stuff like this around the Orl area. This was from the Winebarn tstg in WP and from Mary Elizabeth table. — 5 years ago
Served blind to a few of us by @Weston Eidson . My initial, and final call, of this was ‘14-‘15 Napa Cab. Honestly, hard to put it anywhere else. A more ripe and rich version with an overwhelming amount of baking spices, bruised dark fruits and fig on the nose. Low acidity and an overall “soft” profile...tannic, but not overly so. Nutmeg, cocoa shavings, baked mixed berry pie and just a hint of dust/chalkiness to it. Super approachable now. Julien Fayard makes wonderful wines and I think this, along with his Matthew Wallace wines, are the most enjoyable young. — 6 years ago
I love the smell!! The taste is very smooth for me — 7 years ago
What some people call #minerality I can call high #acidity and hydrolic stress. Long story short, this is a nice #grenacheblanc and if you like gasoline aromas you’re going to dig this wine — 7 years ago
This an extremely interesting wine. I was surprised not to get the usual overwhelming wine from Spain. This is a classic Mountain wine, supple and sumptuous, interesting flavors. For my taste I would prefer a bit more acidity, however. — 7 years ago
Ein herrlich erfrischender wein, dabei sehr vielschichtig und complex im Geschmack. Absolute Empfehlung. — 8 years ago
I really like this wine. It's like a southern French red and goes really well with food. Not as powerful as some Spanish reds but I like that. — 8 years ago
Turd Ferguson
Dark fruit, high acid, grainy tannins, long finish. Elegant power. For Bordeaux varieties in CA and IT I always end up liking the cool vintages best. Scorching a giant flank steak to pair with this and Trump’s impending debate meltdown. Bring it on. — 5 years ago
