Deep and dark ruby garnet. Abundant nose of black cherry and pipe tobacco. Echoed on the palate with a stony mid-palate and a cigar box finish. Velvety tannins coat the mouth from entry to the medium long finish. Toro is probably best known (to those who know it) through really high-end wines that cost more and are less well-known than their fellow Tempranillo-based brothers from Rioja and Ribera del Duero. Darker and fuller than either, Toro at more moderate price points (like this one) let the wineaux experience Spain (and Tempranillo) at a higher level without breaking the proverbial bank. A great alternative to Cabernet Sauvignon (New or Old World) that’s ready for steaks, roasts, root vegetables, hearty casseroles, or any other “deep red” meal. Drink now through 2025.

2011. Ok.. Can I rant for a second? When I looked this wine up on delectable just now and saw an 8.6 rating from the community, my jaw almost hit the floor. What the heck is wrong with people? I'm sorry. I know taste is subjective, but this is a $16 bottle that drinks AT LEAST like a $30 bottle. This is a steal! Nose is lovely, dark, and inviting. Black raspberry, dark chocolate, floral tones and spice box. Gripping and dense on the palate with more black raspberry, concentrated plum compote, and a hint of leather. 10 months in French oak, 95 yr old vines, bush-trained. This is easily a case buy.

Delicious. Really. A wine the tastes the same out of Italy or France would be worth three times as much money. Wonderful fullness and nice alcohol ratio. Satisfying in every respect.

Well balanced wine- medium bodied. Slight acidity. Tannins of berries, slight vanilla/licorice with a subtle earth finish. Good sipping wine

Belles notes minérales, moins d'accent de cerise que certains comparables... Le soleil toujours au rendez-vous!

Over ripe strawberries overlay a meaty background on the nose, while the pallet punches with kitchen spices, plums, and a touch of chocolate. Full body, medium tannins, good mouthfeel.

Nice fresh taste of berries and maybe a little smoky. $12 at total wines. Worth $16
