Beautiful pale-clear straw robe. Nose of peach, passion fruit, melon and pine. Lightly savoury taste with a medium body and light, elegant tannins. Medium, fruity finish. Lovely. — 8 years ago
Lemon meringue, white peach, elderflower, gardenias, sea shells, saline. Snapping fresh acidity, light-medium bodied, juicy-creamy texture, crisp citrus rind-slightly floral finish. Textbook Chablis acidity and character with pleasant floral complexity.

Nicely aromatic: Rich strawberry, cranberry, cocoa. Medium+ bodied with spice, chocolate, light roast coffee, herbs (mint? Thyme? Tarragon?) and a lingering off-tart finish. — 8 years ago
Hey Delectable - this Merlot rosé is from High Plains (not Santa Lucia Highlands) — 8 years ago
I was really interested to try this Ovid Syrah after a number of years, but it was a real disappointment. The nose and texture seemed to be there but it was fantastically muted. I feel like it needs a day out of the bottle so I’m going to try it again later today and see, but at first blush and after a couple hour decant, this wine did not come to the party - instead, it hid like a turtle in the shell. Since the takeover of the Vineyard, I’ve stopped taking most of my allocation. — 5 years ago

Fun! Super sweetheart (not cloying) ripe melon, ripe apricot, finishes on light Jolly ranchers. — 8 years ago
Delicious, dry, citrus fruits — 8 years ago
Deep coloured robe with long legs. Nose of cigars, oak and plumb with hints of pepper. Round, almost sweet taste of plumbs, well balanced with tannins. Medium finish with lingering tannins. Lovely. — 8 years ago
Cherry liqueur, strawberries, rose, plum, sage, thyme, iron, sun dried tomatoes, cinnamon, white pepper. Snapping acidity, minimal smooth velvet tannins, juicy texture, medium bodied, complex fruity-floral-smoky finish. Opened up beautifully with each glass pour. Aromatic with strong mineral character. — 8 years ago
Ripe and heavily influenced by its barrel upbringing. I think this has potential but it just needs time to sort itself out — 6 years ago
Lemon curd, lime, banana, green apple chewy candy, piña colada/ coconuty pineapple, green herbs + bit of anis spice. Salty too!
Both creamy + crunchy. Super refreshing with snapping acidity but also mouthcoating creaminess (lil malo?). Touch nutty/oxidative it seems. Perhaps used oak.

2017 Pale golden in color. Aged in stainless steel to start then finished in French oak. Light smooth. Aromas of lemon, lime, golden apple and pear. A modern Chardonnay. Santa Barbara county. My favorite of our Santa Barbara tasting day. — 7 years ago

This was my contribution for a big white wine theme, where all bottles were served blind.
Placed in the exact middle of the lineup, I considered this as my wine but wasn’t fully confident. Similar to the 2016 Belle Cote I opened earlier this year, I’m somewhat nicely surprised that this is as beautifully balanced as it is. Some of these wines have a reputation for “large and in charge”, but this was supremely balanced, toeing the line between Sonoma and white burgundy with richness. Aromatically it revealed sugar frosted stone fruits, white peach, caramel dipped golden delicious apples and baking spices. It has a beautifully textured palate that is almost creamy before snapping back with good acidity. Added notes on the palate of powdered lemon bar, floral honeysuckle, and whipped lemon cream. This will age effortlessly for another 7-10yrs, but it sure is giving now. — 5 years ago
