Delicious! I like Sauvignon Blanc, but some of it can be overpowering for me. On the other hand, love Assyrtiko. This is a beautiful blend! Super nice nose ! Very fruity with blackberry, raspberry, a bit of tar, a bit of bread yeast, a bit of pine sap. I could have called nebiollo on the nose. The palate is juicy and fruity with nice raspberry and blackberry notes, some width, some matter on the side, some dusty tannins that leave a drying layer over a nice amd fruity finish with a tiny, nice bitter note that adds a nice level of complexity to an otherwise youthful and playful wine. I’ve loved the wines from Alpha Estate for years but this was the first time trying the SMX blend. It did not disappoint. Full-bodied and dark, it produced flavors of blackberry, plum, chocolate, vanilla, and earth. Definitely needed some air before opening up fully, but it could have spent another couple of years in the bottle. 60% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 20% Xinomavro. 4/29/25. — 4 months ago
