North Coast Syrah. And wow, seriously the best wine I've had in so very long. So surpassed expectations with the quiet tannins and wonderful bouquet. Color is almost like grapefruit. Nose of ripe pineapple, tart cherry, mineral, flowering note like light honey, and tinkling carbonate. Taste is clean and follows the nose, with refreshing grapefruit zest, long subtle acidity, some tart cherry, and honey. I really came to like this one. The pedigree of the vineyard is unassailable & while this opened on the first day with a jumbled mix of bracing acid backed with some opulent creaminess which eventually came together and showed a lemon curd richness tamed by acidic tension. Dark red purple with a near black core. Big bosomy nose of black plum, black currant, and mineral char. Full bodied palate echoes the nose adding red apple peel and juicy blackberry with medium plus acidity and medium tannins. Finish is moderately long and sustains the palate. This is very drinkable wine. Solid at room temperature or great slightly chilled. It almost smells like date or fig with a tough of earth and something tart. The pallet is thinner with good acidity and a touch of effervescent. Initially, upon opening, there was a bit of pomegranate, which still lingers a bit after a day.
