Wonderful example.
Nose displays hazelnut, brioche and beeswax. Palate is perfectly balanced and weighted. Honied white fruits combine with moderate acidity, and subtle oak. Whether it’s chard or pinot, ABC has a great wine portfolio, at a modest price.
And yes, drinking mid-week - we broke down like old deck chairs - guilty as charged 😔 — 5 years ago

ABC made Pinot in Santa Barbara for 30 years, still hand picks & sorts heavily in the vineyard, open top fermenters allowing “punch down” by hand. Top Pinot’s never pumped, only moved by gravity & age in new French Oak. ABC Pinot is basically same since 1982. Lively, big blue fruit aromas & sweet spice, aged for 2 years French oak, 25% new. Palate sweet dark berry fruits, cacao & cola notes, nice mouthfeel. Soft tannins, easy drinking now, lingering ending with a fruit character. Nice! Tasting Sample! — 6 years ago

Part of their "Blue Series," Isabelle, named after the birth of Jim’s daughter in 1995, was first top end Pinot Noir that was a blend from different locations, 6 in 2015. Ruby, Aromas of berry fruits with citrus, herbs & floral notes, aged for 2 years in new French Oak. On the palate layers of gentle ripe fruit flavors of raspberry and cherry with citrus and oak wrapped in gentle spice. Wine has great depth, soft tannins, well integrated, savory, long ending with a nice mouthfeel. Very Nice! Last bottle! — 5 years ago
Operated by Jim Clendenen who started winery in 1982. Runway’s first vintage was 2013 & 2015 is great. Limited production from this small vineyard. Aromas of ripe sweet fruit & floral scents, aged in French oak for about 20 months (winery folks indicated only a small amount of new oak was used). On the palate intense fruit flavors of cherry & strawberry, complex subtle spice, well balanced with acidity, great mouthfeel. Fine soft tannins lingering ending. Very nice, less than 250 cases made. Really digging these Santa Barbara Chardonnays...I got underripe melon, pineapple, honeysuckle and white flowers...maybe white peper...med/+ butta.. mid + oak..med- alc/med+ acid...ate with shrimps. Pretty good, but would go with another grow site(ones that had more overripe melon) — 7 years ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Best on Day 2. The 2013 “Au Paradis” pours a deep ruby with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with significant staining of the tears and some signs of light sediment. On the nose, developing the wine is developing with notes of brambles, plums, tobacco, some leather and woody notes, vanilla and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and the texture is pretty plush. To my palate, pretty much a fastball right down the middle of the plate and not quite as intriguing as the “Les Pavots” from the same vintage. Drink now with some patience and through 2038. — 9 months ago
Wonderful balance of white flowers, homey, pear, butter, and toast. I love this profile, this bottle was exactly what i was looking for. Would highly recommend — 3 years ago
Chard that tastes like cloudy Aligote — 5 years ago
So good. Lovely subtle oak spice with big blackberry coulis fruit and spices on the nose. Huge depth on the nose. You could swim in the layers. Palate is so ripe, so rich and so dense with dazzling purity and freshness. Wow. This is just incredible. So fresh yet so opulent and deep. That’s what the best 15’s have to offer. Spectacular. — 6 years ago
