The 2020 Crianza is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon from Ribera del Duero and was aged for 16 months, 75% in French oak casks and 25% in American oak. Garnet-red in hue. The nose features strawberry, plum, undergrowth, herbs, cedar and vanilla notes. The dry and ample palate shows mild tannins and a velvety oak texture that leads to a long-lasting finish. The 2019 Malleolus de Sanchomartín is a 100% Tempranillo parcel wine sourced from Emilio Moro's vineyards in Pesquera del Duero and was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Purple with a garnet sheen. The modest nose offers dark fruit notes with hints of wild herbs. On the palate, it's dry, rich and juicy, with a taut, chalky mouthfeel that leads into a compact, restrained finish underscored by traces of oak. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, November 2023)
