Love this wine every year. Great nose and palate of white flowers, honey/honeysuckle, stones, a hint of tropical fruit and some underripe nectarine. So easy to drink and great qpr. — 5 years ago
Rough label, so we had to pop the cork. This is effortless drinking, but $90 isn’t cheap and there are some incredible Grower Champagne options for $30 less. But lovely color and uncomplicated sipping. — 6 years ago
Young barolo, a bit rough tannins, lots of dark berries, liquorice and violet. — 6 years ago
Deep, inky, and chocolatey. Needs more time in the bottle. Really tight even after 3 hours in decanter. Cassis, cocoa nibs, and subtle bell pepper. Full bodied and well structured. Great wine from a really rough vintage. — 9 years ago
Enjoyable and quite different from California cab. Somewhat dry and tight but does open up. A nice change from a country we don’t see too many wines from. — 4 years ago
Rough week. Needed something good — 5 years ago
Worth the wait. It did not disappoint! Seems to be a wine many keep waiting for and I was hesitant to rush on this but couldn’t resist any longer. I thought it was fantastic. No rough edges to be found. I think this baby is more than ready to be enjoyed! Currants, earth notes, and subtle mature fruit. Consumed over about 5.5 hours and decanted in a magnum decanter. It was very good in the first hour and fantastic by the fourth where I personally think it peaked. Thankfully, I have one more bottle for the future! — 5 years ago
Crips, citrus, acid forward. Good cider that goes well with food — 6 years ago
My WOTN at the Charlotte Hirsch dinner, showing what proper aging can do to bring out a wine's fine points and soften its rough edges. All the elements of this wine were working together in harmony. Soaring floral aromatics, deep, rich fruits and a wonderfully smooth, long finish made this wine a real pleasure to drink. The more Hirsch I drink, the more I realize that patience is rewarded with their wines. 2011 was widely panned as a tough vintage in CA, but this 2011 was absolutely singing. — 7 years ago
Can’t tell whether it is disappointing or just too early to drink. Still a bit rough around the edges and darker fruited than I would have expected. Maybe elegance will come with time. — 8 years ago
Stood up to grilled ribeye with ease. Pretty dense and powerful. Better on day 2. Nice blend - a bit rough around the edges. CF offers nice spice on the palate. — 5 years ago
Cooked blackberries, with subtle cherry, and blueberry aroma. Bouquet of espresso/black tea and chocolate, with black pepper spice and subtle sage and oak. Dry, medium plus tannin. — 5 years ago
Last of a six bottle purchase. Beautiful. Earth and fruit in perfect balance. No rough edges. — 6 years ago
Enjoying this unique wine one day after an actual rough day. Crisp, effervescent, and mineral. Nice on a humid, late summer day. — 7 years ago
My favorite flavor profile of sort of bready cider — 8 years ago

51% CF, 49%ME. Enjoyed the wine & blend. For me, these wines are a bit rough when young but smooth out nicely with age. — 4 years ago
