Sometimes I just open a quality bottle for no real occasion, and today is one of those days. The nose and opening palette is pretty standard for white burg - lemon, green apple, saline minerals. But what sets this apart is the incredible finish - ethereal complexity of dried apple, apricot, almond, subtle oak, bitters, lemon zest and delicate citrus. Tame acidity that opens up over time . Feels very light (despite 13.5% abv), refined and elegant. Deserves to be served on its own, maybe with some herbed and salted nuts. But I’m having it with Goodles parm mac n cheese and Zapp’s Voodoo chips. It’s divine :) — 4 months ago
2014 vintage. Decanted and tasted multiple times at multiple temps from 30 mins open-3 hrs open and 45-60 degrees. Color somewhere between golden and Chartreuse yellow. Plenty of ripeness with remaining acidity crawling along the palate baseline. Do not see this improving but surmise it can hold steady at this mature Burgundy status for another 3-4 years. 02.22.25. — 5 months ago

The 2002 pours a bright yellow color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing and basically a meatball right down the middle of the plate. Powerful notes of ripe pineapple, some ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, marzipan, butter, minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and has a great acid and mineral zip that helps cut through the density. This is a Chardonnay that so many producers desperately want to make but there are so few that can execute with this level of precision. Of the three wines in this flight it was sort of overshadowed early by the Sauzet and the Leroy Aligote…but that changed when the food came. Paired with the roulade du lapin, this was without equal. 2014 vintage. Decanted and tasted after 2 hours at approx 62 degrees. Medium-medium heavy body. Plenty of honey/mead texture and flavors along with golden, slightly overripe apple + a little finishing spice flourish. Decent acidity at that temp and wanted to chill some down to the mid-50's to reevaluate but ran out of road. Better luck next time. 05.30.25. — 2 months ago

This is another amazing wine on entry. Elegant and all you expect and more at the level. Granny Smith apple, lime flesh w/ pith & zest, pineapple juice, white peach, tropical green melon, paraffin, waxy, excellent chalky powder, white spice, limestone powder, field of spring white flowers framed in jasmine, perfect acidity and a beautiful, well made & balanced finish that lasts nearly two-minutes and lands on chalk & spice. — 10 months ago

Honeyed medium yellow to the sight, true to its age. White floral and lemony vibrant notes dance on my nose. A touch reductive on the initial sip, the palate opens up with time to showcase classic mineralite and a vibrant fruit core with notes of citrus and to a lesser extent, stone fruits. Lovely weight with great mouth caressing viscosity and silkiness. Definitely in a good drinking window with no sign of fading and evolving in the glass over a lovely 2 hour Cantonese cuisine dinner.
