Piedra Luna

Casa de Piedra

Vino de Piedra Tinto Cabernet Sauvignon Tempranillo 2017

Well, this confirmed it! Mexican wine is the new tequila! Nice wine upon opening it. A bit off balance, but.. wow after corn chips and tacos, this wine was singing!!! Amazing pairing. As you might know, my wife and I and our daughters created Spoken Wines, where we travel the world to discover the stories behind exceptional wine. A few years back we explored Baja California and were introduce to their quality wines. Check out our YouTube channel to experience it yourself. Cheers! Familia Zuccardi

Finca Piedra Infinata Paraje Altamira Malbec Blend 2017

Deep , opaque violet ruby , with a thin violet rim . Quite dense and closed at first , deep plum , blackberry , meaty , chocolate , dark cherry , with a stony , granite note . On the palate this is dense dark blackberry , earthy plum , liquorice and cacau destes dark cherry . High tannin, really quite firm and gritty , fresh acidity and just balanced alcohol. Good gritty herbal and granite stained finish . This is very young and quite concentrated in style , lots of tannin to round out , but there is lots of stuffing here too . Come back in 5-10 years perhaps and will last well a further 5-10. — 9 days ago

Giornata

Luna Matta Vineyard Aglianico 2011

At the crest of the mountain but very enjoyable. Still has life. Nose is mature currents and red fruit. You can taste the Paso soil! Great marriage of Italian and American wine. The palate is silky compared to when it was released and has bursts of fruit. Slightly hot. Throwing some sediment but still a long-ish finish. — a month ago

Forja del Salnes

Bastion de la Luna Tintos de Mar Rias Baixas Red Blend 2015

Blend of equal amounts of local red grapes; Caino, Espadeiro and Loueiro, Ruby red color with aromas of red fruits, herb, floral and cigar box notes. On the palate flavors of cherry and raspberry with tobacco, oak and garden herbs. Medium+ finish, chalky tannins, savory, ending with herbs, spice, cedar and slight fruit, savory. Nice, will continue to age. — 8 months ago

Luna Matta Nebbiolo 2008

Well, glad I kept this for another 6 years to see how it evolved. Cork was in amazing shape. Brick red. Almost tawny in glass. Dried flowers and herbs on the nose. Not a lot of fruit on the nose. Palate is more dried flowers, roses, leather, the faintest touch of pouch tobacco, plums, dried fig, maybe persimmon. It dries the mouth with tannin and acidity. Definitely secondary flavors starting. Probably the best wine deal I’ve ever had for this type of quality. Wish I had one more to try in 2028. — 5 months ago
