White cherry on the nose, apricot skin, grapefruit pith, lots of minerality and savory notes on the palette, acidic and tannic but we'll balanced - lots of character — 3 years ago
Long finish, solid wine — 3 years ago
Light body and very "Pinot Noir" like. Bright red cherry and strawberry flavors. Mild tannins and light oak. Hint of smoke. Refreshing. Chill it a bit below cellar temp. Great story about the winery. A Mt. Etna lava flow just went around them 30 years ago. — 9 years ago
Life affirming,aged etna rosso-wow — 12 years ago
Made from 50 to 100 year old vines and matured for 18 months in small and large oak vessels, of which 20% are new. Medium-ruby, the 2020 Terre Nerre Calderara Sottana is introduced by a hauntingly fragrant scent of red and black cherries, wild blackberries, Mediterranean herbs and crushed granite rock. The medium to full-bodied palate is marked by a firm tannic structure, nervy tension and wonderful fruit complexity, closing with an elegant, persistent finish. Drink now until 2040. — 2 years ago
Lots of flavor! — 3 years ago
If you find the Nero Davola too heavy, this one is for you. A Sicilian red that has the earthy qualities that Etna provides, but so much lighter than other reds from the region. This has hints of nutmeg and cinnamon. Very light cherry on the finish. Good warm weather trattoria wine. — 3 years ago
Bright and full of minerals. It would round out if aged a bit — 7 years ago

Well balanced. Refreshing, asian pear, lime , banana. — 4 years ago
Probably my favorite “cheap” Italian red. Though tannic, well balanced w dark rich fruit, high acidity, and 14% al. Earthy in a great way. Great nose. Long finish. Nice alone. Or drink w meats and/or robust pasta. $18. (One weird item: there is no vintage year on the bottle). — 7 years ago

The winemaker’s commentary definitely applies here; this has balance, complexity and freshness with the utmost drinkability and versatility. Pairs well with all but the heaviest dishes — 2 years ago
