This was rated 5 different times by Parker, the more the bottle aged the lower the score. From a high of 97 it was last rated a 92 in 2014.Another good, classic, Bordeaux from 2001. Tart blackberries, leather, pencil shavings and nice balance. Med/full body and med-short finish. Tannins surprisingly higher than expected but I believe it's time to drink em up. — 8 years ago

For as much ritz and glamour that is typically associated with Napa Valley, this week highlighted who the real rock stars are in their community... the farmers and firefighters. Haley Wight is the sixth generation to farm her family’s estate, the historic Lewelling Ranch in St. Helena, originally established by her great-great-great grandfather John Lewelling in 1864. She also happens to make extraordinary Cabernet Sauvignon. So extraordinary, that I’m going to skip writing a note and just tell you that Robert Parker hits the nail on the head... “The wine displays gorgeous licorice, lead pencil shavings, black currants, loamy soil undertones and a touch of barrique. Dense purple, it has a full-bodied, multi-layered mouthfeel and a stunning finish with good acidity and velvety, well-integrated tannin, alcohol and wood. This is a scrumptious, full-throttle Cabernet Sauvignon to drink over the next 15 or so years. 96 points.” — 9 years ago

This 6 year old is drinking beautifully now. Rich yet elegant. Extracted and easy drinking. Well balanced and really delicious.
A beautiful surprise. I had the 2016 a few years ago, and this is drinking much better now. I did not expect it from the 2017 vintage.
Thank you Mike for sharing this with me.

Nice to taste this Santa Maria Valley bottling alongside the Sta. Rita Hills one. Riper, darker fruits profile but there is still freshness here. Oak is more prominent. Earthier as well with light mushroom and tea leaf notes. Plush palate.
This is a more complex and deeper wine. But I prefer the Sanford bottling slightly. — 3 years ago
Nice and light, not too sweet, with lovely notes of peaches and apricots, exactly as described on the bottle! — 6 years ago
Beautiful, rich and soft. One of the most supple and gentle Napa Cabs I have tasted.
Robert Parker rated it at 100!! — 9 years ago

Dark fruited with steeped tea, baking spice, and even a bit black pepper. Ripe and deep. Paired really well with grilled salmon.
Could use another 4 or 5 years of bottle age. — 2 years ago
