The nose has a dark core. The palate still has a bit of astringency to it. The very M+ tannins are round and meaty. Very dark currants, wild blackberries, both plum, black raspberries, baked strawberries, mix of purple fruits, raspberries, dark chocolate cake to mousse, dark spice, dry tobacco, oak barrel powder to cedar tones, anise to black licorice, mid berry cola. Sweet tarriness, some dry herbs, mix of Asian & Indian spices, baking spices-leads with strong clove, nutmeg, cinnamon stick & vanilla, caramel tones, just a touch of ground black pepper, black tea, dry tree bark, black rich earth w/ leaves, dry top soil, withering & candies, dark, red flowers framed in violets & lavender, beautiful acidity, well; structured/tensioned, coming into full balance, showing an elegant near two-minute finish that lands on fruit and earthy minerals.

A great “uncork and pour” Toscana IGT Rosso, with a blend ratio of 51% Cab Sauv, 44% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot. A truly traditional Bolgheri-styled super tuscan, known for versatile, bright and uplifting wines.
The v.2022 displays fruitier and juicy aromas on the nose driven by blackberries and cherry medley, with some peppy notes as well. The palate welcomes a fresh fruit-forward with medium-less textured tannins, once it opens for about 30 mins shows more subtle ripen red fruits and becomes smoother. Mouthfeel has a soft-end thanks to the MLF in steel tanks. However, the wine was aged for 10 months, partly in barriques used previously for its Ornellaia wines and partly in concrete tanks, to attain a nearly-perfect balance between the structure of its tannins and the fruit-forward expression.
Had this wine in a traditional “Trattoria-style” Ristorante known for Central Tuscany-cuisine. Simply Marvelous! — 5 months ago
Medium deep ruby, quite thin garnet ruby rim . Quite dense and slightly smoky nose, charcoal , dusty cassis, tobacco , oyster shell , sweet blackberry and herbal hints . Sweeter darker fruits on the palate with cassis , blackberry , grafite ,liquorice , tobacco and quite noticable , slightly dry tannins . Good length and dusty grafite finish . This shows some development but needs a little time still to integrate the tannins . Better in 5 years and will last well a further 10 or so . — 9 days ago
The Masseto Ornellaia is an exceptional expression of a Merlot, offering a beautifully balanced blend of power and elegance. On the nose, there’s an inviting oak aroma that seamlessly mingles with ripe, dark fruit—think blackberries and plums—with subtle hints of licorice and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is rich and full-bodied, with layers of dark fruit flavors unfolding effortlessly, underpinned by a velvety texture. The oak is well-integrated, adding depth without overwhelming the fruit. Its tannins are smooth but structured, leading to a long, lingering finish. Overall, it’s a complex, luxurious wine that evolves beautifully in the glass. — a year ago

This super Tuscan opens with a splash of orange, pomegranates, and plums. A dark undercurrent of wood, vanilla and leather laced with soft tannins follows and carries through a mild acidic finish. — 6 days ago
