very good 2001 aged surprisingly well for new world wine — 7 years ago
Very New World style. By the nose and palate, this one allost seemed to resemble a Malbec. I believe this is 100% Merlot. Decadent black and purple youthful fruit and a hint of chocolate on the nose. Entry is gritty, black and purple fruit with cocoa nibs and herbal character. Herbs carry to the middle where a baking spice note shows, but again this wind seems to have more of a dark purple and tarry black fruit background. Very weighted finish. Thick and inky. I think this could benefit from a few more years of bottle aging but drinking well now! — 7 years ago

I'm a long-time fan of the quality and value of this line, but '15 reaches a new level. In addition to the usual fresh nose of red berry and light cedar, the palate has an extra layer of extracted purity, bordering on syrupy after some air, that lends this $22 PN a class I normally associate with the best of Carneros, absolutely new world. Will likely cellar 3-5 years. — 9 years ago

Rich, oily & vegetal. Yum! #PyramidValleyVineyard #Semillon #Biodynamic #NZwines — 10 years ago
Rich and powerful. The nose features cassis, blueberry, cedar, and sweet spice, accentuated by incense, tobacco, and hint of dried flower. The lush and dense palate is ripe and concentrated but with good balance. The dusty tannins, though very polished, is still quite massive.
The 13’ is more akin to new world than old, and will benefit for at least additional 5 years of aging. — 6 years ago

Strong Berry taste. Somewhat dry. — 8 years ago
to file in the category of 'wish I had another one of these for ____ years from now'. Solid, but with forward-looking prosperity. Hawkes Bay forever. — 9 years ago
Dark berries currants and spices on the nose with some eucalyptus and possibly sun-dried tomatoes. A nice nose that is more new world than old world. Lots of spices, dark berries, a little bit of heat from the alcohol with minerals, currents and some hints wood on the Finish. Full bodied some tannins present but well-integrated. The wine is tight young but showing potential in the future.. Needs to be cellared for a few years. — 10 years ago
This is as good as it gets in the new world! — 10 years ago

I am enjoying sampling PN's from different regions...Central Otago offers some nice selections..as always vintage depending...but I have found the 2015's to be quite nice!
This wine is New World in style...damp earth..mushrooms..bing cherry..mild oak...nutmeg..cinnamon...mild acidity..presents with a decent long finish!
Revisiting this post vacuum pumped and put in the fridge...this has opened up even more...enjoying the earthiness of this wine! — 7 years ago

First New Zealand Pinot...really enjoyed it! Light body and finish, but very flavorful and a bit spicy. — 7 years ago

Had at The Modern in NYC in 2015. Dinner for 1 after Tanya and Lena left. Sommelier-recommended for Pinot Noir lovers adventurous to try from less common regions. — 10 years ago

Pale to mid Lemon in colour. Initial notes of Vanilla Oak - a bit of leesy funk. Palate is medium plus intensity with some citrus and ripe grapefruit - generous with minerality and good length - a buttery note on the palate. An excellent new world Chardonnay from Oregon. This was Wine #2 in Wine Spectators Top 100 for 2016. — 6 years ago
