Annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine.
(Notes this year were avoided, but scores are honest.)

So good, years to go! 93++

Noticeable oak treatment, tannin and heat. Not loving it. There’s big, monolithic but approachable reds and there’s cough syrup. This trends towards the later.

A personal favorite. Dark red color with intense aromas of ripe fruit, floral notes and perfume spice. Aged for 24 months on French and American oak, the 70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon blend shows sweet cherry and blackberry flavors, rich with notes of espresso and toasty oak. Fine tannins, savory, well balanced, developing with each glass, lingering finish, ending with slight earthy tones. Excellent!

If you like bold Napa Cab, try this Monastrell-based Spanish red. For around $35 it's a reliably outstanding mind blowing value.

BIG. No nuance, but still well-rounded...by brute force.
