Bressler

St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

Last vintage from Bressler, grapes going to Anomaly vineyards now. Was on the customer list at the start for a few years and still have 01 and 02 (popped an 02 a year ago and it was great) in the cellar. Grabbed some 2014s at a great price. For Napa, Bressler was always worth seeking...premium valley floor fruit, Mia Klein winemaker, and under $100 release price.

1 hour decant (little sediment). A splended inky dark magenta color. On the nose: floral, sandlewood, black cherry and plum, cedar, vanilla marshmallows. Taste: Elegant and smooth, soft tannins with blackberry, blueberry, chocolate, with a spicy cedar medium plus finish....ready to go another 15 years.

Sad to see this producer end its run. Haven’t had any older vintages, but I’ve enjoyed 2009-2013 the last few years. Love Mia Klein’s craft too.

@Shay A Yep, sad to see these guys go, and Mia's Selene wines are terrific. Cheers!

Cadence

Bel Canto Cara Mia Vineyard Red Blend 2016

Have you baked fruit I’ve only slightly accompanied, bacon, spices, more like a little bit of juicy and fatty tannins that complement more than blend. Gives a good structure, so the whole thing doesn’t end up too jammy. Woods beyond oak like cedar, cigarbox, Cedar, Pinion-wood, things like that. A little bit of forest floor mushroom. — 6 months ago

Château Sainte Luce Bellevue

Premieres Cotes de Blaye Red Bordeaux Blend 2003

My daughter turns 10 today and to celebrate we popped this bottle of 20 year old wine.
It's showing a bit of age as there's a brickish rim around the glass and the nose shows tertiary aromas with mushrooms and wet forest soil. Upon opening, black currant and raspberry could still be felt but it faded away since then. There is still tar and a tiny bit of oak in there too. The palate is well designed with a good acid drive, some tangy, black fruits notes, some width, a lively mouthfeel with a bit of grain that leaves a drying, dusty layer over a rather long fruity finish with a pinch of oak. 20 years old and kicking 👍🏻 we had it along ribs we grilled and it did go quite well.

Congrats. Older Blaye is an excellent choice. Modest appellation that can be magic.
