Mas De Valériole

Daumas Gassac

Mas de Daumas Gassac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2020

Delightful as always. Delicate, floral, a bit peppery in this vintage, but no issues striking that perfect balance of ripeness and coolness. Ethereal. Hits its stride with an hour of air, excellent cellar potential. — 20 days ago

I’ve always found them really approachable in their first few years, there is a magic to the youthful fruit, then they close down a bit usually 4-7 yo before showing well again. Funnily enough, the back of the label says more or less the same thing in so many words…

“enjoy for its complex fruit character in the first five years, or from 7 to 25 years for its depth and complexity.” Written on the back label!

Mas Donís Old Vines Montsant Grenache Syrah 2018

Always one of my favorite go to Spanish reds from the Montsant region which is my of my personal favorite DO’s. I tried this for the first time almost 15 years ago and always buy it when I can find it. It is still an exceptional wine every year and incredible value. Very similar to a higher end Cotes Du Rhone. Buy it by the case…🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 2 months ago

Cellers Can Blau

Mas de Can Blau Cariñena Blend 2013

Tour de Force, absolutely black, so inky & dense, so brooding with layers upon layers of liqueur like black/blue fruit, just gobs of rich extracted macerated fruit w/distinct vein of minerality, licorice, mocha, smoke, hedonistic, light dusting of sweet baking spices, couldn’t pull our noses out of the glass, and the palate just reinforced everything… just massive, wave after wave of richness, a bit of heat from the hi ABV is my only minor deduction. Showed power & grace, masculine, structured w/lengthy caressing finish. This could go 20+ yrs, it’s just a baby. — 2 months ago
