Marchesi de' Frescobaldi

Riserva Montesodi Castello di Nipozzano Chianti Rùfina Sangiovese 2012

This ages so well. A balance of mature and fresh: cigars, tomato leaf, eggplant (first time I think I ever said that!), cassis.
Finely structured tannins, the acids have mellowed a little but still very present.
Who knows how long this one could go but it's a great time to drink it now!

Massovivo Toscana Vermentino 2018

This Italian white has a most interesting presence in the glass. The pale yellow liquid has a nose which is quite herbaceous, showing notes of sage, anise and oregano. The palate brings forth some citrus fruit - Meyer lemon - and a boatload of minerals and salinity. There is quite a racy acidity, too. Like a good Vermentino should, the wine leaves a sense of the seashore on the finish. — 4 years ago

Il Nocio Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Sangiovese 2016

Powerful and perfumed. NOT another over-rich, dead-in-the-mouth sangiovese. Very taut and multilayered. — 5 years ago

Campone Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2014

Enjoyable, solid value Brunello Di Montalcino at €22 across Milan train station. Notes of cherry plum and blackberry fruits combine with a complex mixture of smokey vanilla undergrowth which imparts earthy leather undertones. Medium body. Decent 2hr min, as there are strong tannins (Also probably drinking this a few years young) for a 2014 in 2020. — 6 years ago

Castello di Pomino Rosso Sangiovese Blend

Very well done white wine. It comes from an area where the climate helps building freshness and aromas. Tried cold but very nice also at room temperature. Not only citrus fruit, but also white peach on the nose/palate. — 7 years ago

Riserva Sotto Casa Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Fresh and elegant vino nobile, lots of cherry flavours, a very good wine, but a bit ‘light’ with the bistecca fiorentina, probably needs a bit more time. Nevertheless one of the best producers in the appelation — 9 months ago

Montesodi Toscana Sangiovese 2015

Aromas of dark plums, wet leaves, and pencil lead; with added smokey and deep flavors of tobacco, dark chocolate, and maybe a hint of potpourri! The tannins are beefy yet elegant and evolved, and with the bright acidity and high alcohol (14.5%) means this is a “big” Super Tuscan. — 8 years ago
