Caymus Vineyards

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2017

I think this was fantastic! But I had covid and lost my sense of taste and smell... so... I make these notes based on people I drank it with. Was originally going to cellar, but figured why not. A bit young still, but also still very drinkable. — 4 years ago

Fulldraw Vineyard

Hard Point Paso Robles Grenache

Interesting comparison between the Fulldraw and Tynan wine. Both were opened about 2hrs. The flavor profile is somewhat similar between the two, showing chocolate and dark blue fruit for the Tynan and red fruit for the Fulldraw. Great spice and pepper with each. The main difference is with the tannins and finish. The tannins on the Tynan are fairly noticeable (in addition to some heat) while the Hard Point’s are already integrated. The finish on the Hard Point is incredibly long and luxurious. @Connor McMahon exceptional wine — 7 years ago

Château Cos d'Estournel

Saint-Estèphe Red Bordeaux Blend 1982

Was gifted this wine by my dad, given to him by friends 15 years ago. I was a little nervous to drink it, as I am not very sophisticated about wine and have never had a wine this aged before... I was surprised at how good it was, though I could sense enough to believe that maybe it had lost some of its structure. I would say it tasted lush to me, and very drinkable. Impressive, and a learning experience for me, for which I was glad to have the opportunity. Thanks, dad!

Olga Raffault

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2016

Austere. Nose starts pretty reticent - Wood and spice and a little fruit- then blossoms with some elegant purple florals after several hours. This will become wonderful with time and be a keeper based on balance and concentration at this point. — 4 years ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2005

Always love Lopez but at this point I may prefer the Bosconia. This has a bit too much oak on cork pop but with some air everything integrated. Great structure and precise acid. Nice. — 7 years ago

Scholium Project

Riquewihr Lost Slough Vineyards Gewürztraminer 2015

The 2015, the other half of the night's comparison. Less subtle, more floral. Jasmine, rose petal, honey. All powerful, but all a bit separate and distinct. I think this could lie down for a good while. Will be pleased to try another bottle in a few years. — 8 years ago
