Got a great deal on 6 pack of these two Bordeaux greats. Both got scores of 99, but the range of scores was pretty wide for both as well. I know I have to lay them down for 10 years+ but I wanted to try both for a baseline.
The Palmer is showing a lot more than the Ducru. It’s very enjoyable now! Nose is fantastic if a touch muted but still get nice cedar, black cherry, hint of floral, and something herbal. The palate is slate, cherry, blackberry, and currant. Not muted or closed in the least, but the slate thing overlays the fruit. Does that make sense? Help me describe that.
All in all I love this wine. Can’t hardly wait for 10 years from now. Guessing I won’t! — 3 years ago

Beautiful golden yellow, slight petrol and slate aromas, and round honey sweetness on the tongue. Yum!! Pairing with spicy Indian food... here we go!! — 5 years ago
Still absolutely gigantic and wound up, taking a whole day to give dried flowers and blackberry jam in addition to its massive, tongue-stripping, tannic backbone. Structure to lay down for another 25 years, easy. A bit hard to approach and intense now. — 3 years ago
2021/3-4. Really lovely - at 20, it is indeed Burgundian in its open, red fruit character, but it still has that hot-stone Chateauneuf character. I’m so glad I kept a few of these - I now have just one more left. Considering the price has doubled, I don’t know how many more I’ll get to lay down, so I’ll look forward to that last bottle of 2001 with a mix of excitement and sadness. — 5 years ago
Excellent, would definitely have again. Slightly fruitier than your average dry Sauvignon. Purchased via Naked. — 5 years ago
Rich, ripe, lots of botrytis. I loved it. — 5 years ago

It’s been a year and half since my last bottle. This wine just speaks to me, always has. Blueberry compote nose. Blueberry pie, blackberry, ripe fruit, fantastic mouthfeel. So easy. So glad I bought a case and a half years ago, wish I had got more. Perhaps drinking better now than ever. Wish they still made this cuvée. — a month ago
