Not the best bottle of 2001...otherwise these can be glorious.

Great color showing some age. Wild nose of plum, herbs, brush and sweet fruit. Very round in the mouth. In a good drinking window right now.

Dark ruby, almost opaque. Liqueur-like nose with some funk... Dried brush, ripe small red berries, herbs de Provence, and black berry notes in the nose. Medium finish but beats you up a little with its power. Nobody would call this delicate or elegant.

Beautiful fruit through the mid-palate then the drying tannins come charging in.

Really lovely, Rich, spicy red fruit and great palate feel and long finish. A lovely wine very characteristic of this wonderful producer.

Typical Pegau brettiness, sour cherries, raspberry, blackberry liquer, smoke, violets, juicy red fruit flavors with a fresh licorice flavored midpalate, the finish is quite long filled with meaty flavors, chewy yet elegant tannins, and alot of black pepper.

A once beautiful wine, slightly faded at 20 years out. Still loads of ripe red fruit and elegance, but it was all high and mid notes with little bass and just a hint of pruning. Still made for a nice night.
