1 hour decant(some chunky/fine sediment). A striking dark ruby red color. On the nose: jumping from the glass is ripe dark fruit, currants, mint, floral, wet forest floor, truffles, and some roasted meat. Taste: smooth, soft, silky, seductive wine with plum/cherry, earth, cedar, minerals, and a medium plus smokey spiced chocolate finish. YUM! — 10 months ago

2016. Merlot-based Bordeaux. Rich purity of fruit makes it very approachable for a young wine. Firm tannins up front melt into sappy purple fruit. Some minerals and stone but a fairly one-dimensional fruit bomb at this point. $43 at Bottle King. — 4 years ago

For a 25-year-old pomerol…yeah, you could do a lot worse. Classic old aromatics of dried cassis, leather, and hints of menthol, this is an example of why you stow away some wines for a decade or two so you can revisit them on a beautiful Michigan evening. Cheers. — 4 years ago
