Yet another wine that has presented perfectly on day two. I have more respect for Cali producers who produce juice that is able to stands upright on day two. It's still ultra-rich, and deeply textured. Kudos to the winemaker. There are also some very interesting text referencing early English monarchs on the front label. Will ask my art historian daughter to assist with decoding the faint signals. — 9 years ago

1978 La Mission beautiful ruby color throughout. Nose of complex sweet raisins, fruit cake, burnt embers, spice and tar. Delicious mouthfeel of earthy fruit with balanced acidity, sweet tannin and velvety 60+second finish. What a great wine drinking at its prime! Kudos. — 11 years ago

Wow, the scores posted are very low. I’m going a bit higher here. Tart, cherry, strawberry and huge mouthfeel. If you know yamhill - then you’ll know this wine immediately. Christmas with my parents and two younger brothers....and my two nieces and two nephews. 6 kids under 13.....Xmas eve and it’s my dad’s birthday and my 13 year old nephew’s bday. Party party party. Kudos and many thanks to @Martin G Rivard for sharing this exceptional VHR!! 2 HR decant and paired with a homemade barbecue chicken pizza (really, this carries well!). Thanks to @Ryan Mitchell for purchasing the sweet potato soufflé and corn bread sides to complete the meal. Inky dark with hint of tobacco, smoke and red currents. Tannins already smoothing for a 2013, but this could sit and improve for years a la @David Trumper. Many thanks again @Martin G Rivard, look forward to returning the favor!! — 9 years ago
