Time for my #FridayCabernetfix.

This is a gorgeous Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley, from the great 2012 vintage. Rich, extracted, generous and fruit forward.

Full bodied and smooth, with medium acidity and a long finish.

Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, earth, chocolates, licorice, sweet tobacco, cola, coffee, mocha and peppercorn.

Drinking very nicely right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.

Shows a really nice nose, that I kept on smelling for a while. Tasty and delicious. Showing great complexity and a great mouthfeel.

This 9 year old Magnum is delicious now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years.

Robert Parker 96 points.

Thank you Barry for sharing.

Grapes are from the To kalon and Beckstoffer Vineyards. A blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon and 48% Cabernet Franc. A tiny production of only 3 barrels.

15.1% alcohol by volume.

96 points.

$450 (Magnum).

@Carl Fischer Christine knew that we would all get along as soon as you walked in with this beauty in New York earlier this year!!! It's one of her favorites!!! Truly A phenomenal example of a great Napa cab. This is firing on all cylinders. I still have a dozen left in my cellar and can't wait to see the evolution that they will take in the next 15 years. Winner, winner chicken dinner! Great minds think a like Carl! LOL we must've had 60 bottles of wine that night and I still remember Christine saying "I really like that wine" when you walked in the door with that bottle! LOL The entire WNH @Joe Lucca @Mike Rowe @David L @Ron R would've had an incredible time this evening. We can't wait to see you within the near future!

Intense, lush, full-bodied, fruit forward wine. Blueberries, blackberries, and chocolate-covered cherries. Outstanding.

This is the third time I've had this wine (first in April 2017, then in March 2018) and it seems to be developing nicely. That being said, this still seems somewhat one-dimensional to me versus my prior two tastings.

In appearance, this Cab is medium purple at its core with ruby near the edges of the glass. The nose emits welcoming and sweet aromas of blueberry, plum, black cherry, lavender, and cedar, though this is not as multi-dimensional as other bottles I enjoyed. I'm excited to try this again in several years to see if we get some of the tertiary notes. The palate continues the sweet theme with flavors of blackberry compote, blueberry, sweet tobacco, milk chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Medium- to full-bodied with high acidity, medium (+) tannins, and a medium (+) length finish with jammy dark fruit. I think this falls into the people-pleasing camp of wines, though don't get me wrong it is high quality.
