2014 - San Martino della Battaglia is one of the smallest DOC in Italy, that counts 30K bottles for 8 producers. This white is based on Tuchì grapes (actual name for Tocai), it represents a bold move to reaffirm its past identity and visibility to the market niche of Tocai/Tuchì aficionados. An amazing small jewel to discover on the southern shores of Lake Garda. — 10 years ago
'98 vintage. What a beauty! A true ballet dancer, this wine is an absolute jewel of delicacy, elegance and grace. The purity of the nose is of epic proportions with beautiful red berries, black tea and light touches of anis. After an hour or so, spices emerge from the glass, cedar, incense and light camphor (or warm eucalyptus). Mouthfeel is delicious as well, full of balance, bright acidity and a persistent ripe black cherry flavor. I loved this wine! A true foodie wine! — 10 years ago
A great jewel of a wine considering the price. It tastes like the expensive ones at an inexpensive price. Drink now — 11 years ago
Vesper martini, cuz we're not that drunk. Nolet's gin (Ketel One) is so key here, please tolerate my diva when I say I just don't drink these without Nolet's. 3 oz. Nolet's gin, 1 oz. Jewel of Russia Ultra vodka (this extravagance can be subbed for decent vodka), 0.5 oz. Lillet Blanc. Shaken, not stirred...the original James Bond martini. — 12 years ago
Come-on, what's not to like! Hanging by the pool, reggae playing and this jewel from Pisoni. Darker in the glass the most Rosé, looks like rum punch🌊. Crisp and fresh on the nose-Tart red berries, orange rind and anise fill the mouth. Love how @Jeff Pisoni plays the tannins and acidity to give a dry finish with a creamy back-end — 9 years ago
what a jewel. charming old lady with a leather hat, nice perfume of spices and rum pot fruit, kitchen herbs around the neck. really pleasant!

This is one of the reasons I'm convinced it's almost never necessary to spend more than about $30 on a chardonnay, as this has pretty much everything I want out of the grape. Crystalline on day one, cut like a jewel with a chalky, dusty minerality that impacts the texture as much as the taste, all briny oysters on the finish, holds up well in the fridge for days putting on weight and getting deeper, more brassy tones while still featuring that chalky freshness. — 10 years ago
#1993s were, across the board, perfectly-focused, jewel-like #Rieslings, and the #Saar region made particularly beautiful wines.
#EgonMüller makes a habit of excellence and this lovely #Spätese disappeared very quickly from all of our glasses! — 10 years ago
Never a better finish than a Pedro Ximenez! A VORS 30 years old Jerez, a jewel from Gonzalez Byass! A lot of black plums, rairings... — 11 years ago
One of my favs. — 11 years ago
The Crown Jewel of Stone Brewery, well kinda one of many, Great! — 12 years ago
With a jewel like glance; cherry, baking spice and a white pepper nose tempt this luscious red. On the palate cherry softens into a earthy neutral hints of mushroom and soft spices. Wow! — 9 years ago
Young, elegant, evocative! Just a jewel from the heart of Arnoia, Ribadavia in the DO Ribeiro! Violets, toasted almonds, castañas, strawberries, cinnamon, great complexity!!! One of my favorites ever!!! — 10 years ago
This Champagne comes from vineyards purchased from Krug in the 80's, and now the jewel in the crown of the Thienot estate. Released after the 2002 Salon, this is still young at 13. The last glass revealed profound nutty complexity... A great bottle. — 10 years ago
Hungarian jewel - it's short description of this wine. Slight berry taste and aroma, not too harsh or not too dry - perfect on its own - but best enjoyed in the beginning of evening ;) — 11 years ago
Marvellously dilicious... Once again a jewel of a wine by Kanu. — 12 years ago

On the nose and on the palette, this is focused and intense.
You can tell from the nose that this is a pure cab. It display ultra-ripe fruit, combined sweet barrel toast, which are not overdone.
The palette is polished and pristine. Syrop du cassis, caramelized black fruits and smoke present in harmony. Tannins are somewhat integrated, but still ripe, while the acidity provides another source of complexity. It's extremely dense and compact, with a beautiful finish. A textbook expression of place (Howell Mountain), this bears all the hallmarks of greatness.
@David A Lentine gifted this crown jewel to wifey and I. We are forever in your debt - thank you. — 9 years ago
