Full body and full tannins meet the earthy murky sweetness of a great natural wine. All of the mouthfeels coupled with broody intellectual flavors—smoky tobacco and freshly polished leather shoes. Stewed prunes white pepper cedar, newer oak vanillins. Face melting tannins, blacker pepper and plums in the mouth, more perfume. Not much concentration perhaps why there is some montepulciano in the blend, so I'd be tempted to say drink now. I love it, but its kinky with the tannins. Not for everyone. — 7 years ago

2001, Madonna delle Grazie Il Marroneto Sangiovese. A Brunello with 14 years of aging, doesn't get much better. Still has primary black fruit but layers of secondary flavors. It continues to open up and get more complex through the evening. — 11 years ago
