Super! I wanted a wine that could hold up with fish. Super floral and leathery aromatics, soft red fruit, cherry, orange peel, strawberry. High acidity and no tannin, perfect with tomato and fish. This is a gem, I would highly recommend but absolutely need food. Should be a given with Italian wine but just so I’m clear. Salute! — 5 years ago
Natural montepulciano. Comes in a clear bottle 🤷🏼♂️. Fully enjoyable, especially with rustic Italian fare. Quite farty on the nose. Tad spritzy. Slightly under ripe cherry on the palate with a minty kick. Tobacco and herbs. This has really nice verve and presence and I love the texture - lactic, almost creamy. Finishes with grainy tannins. Very alive. Tastes like a barrel sample. Drained quickly. — 5 years ago
Grape seed, cherry, lovely acidity and slight sweetness. Glouglou!!! — 6 years ago
Popped and poured; consumed over three hours. Tremendous Cerretta. Looks like ox blood in the glass...incredible visual with zero signs of age. Intoxicating aromas of kirsch, pie crust, tar, fresh roses, and tiramisu. On the palate it was all kirsch and sous bois supported by a mountain of tannins still, 12 years in. Beautiful acidity and the finish sits with you for well over half a minute. It was still going strong by the time we reached the bottom of the bottle. This wine will last for decades to come and I have expectations for it to start showing its best closer to 2025. Drink with patience or hold. — 8 years ago
A couple of weeks back, I opened a bottle of the 2017 that was supposed to be my first impression of the latest release. Ferrando’s Carema “Etichetta Bianca” is one of my favorite wines in Piemonte and, well, it was a false start. It was brown, tasted like it was 30 years old, full of secondary characteristics and lacking any of the elegance or structure I’ve come to expect from these wines year in and year out. The cork appeared to be perfect; not sure what happened. It was just, flat. So, I opened another one of my bottles this weekend to see if I was dealing with a much broader issue. Much to my delight, this bottle was proper.
Tonight, the wine poured a striking, garnet color with a transparent core and a slightly watery rim. No staining of the tears. No signs of sediment. The wine is intense, woodsy, and has the smell of strong BO, spicy but in a good way? Like someone put on a fancy cologne to cover the fact that they haven’t showered in a week. Weird…I know…but trust me. You’ll smell it and then you’ll like it. Red flowers, red fruits like dried cherries and porchini too. On the palate, the wine is dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Long finish. Dried cherries, exotic spices and dried herbs. Overall, I got the impression of a round but rustic wine; unique in a way I have come to expect from these wines over the years. I had a little bit left in the bottle that I held over until the next day and it became even more fresh on Day 2. Based off my experience, you can certainly open these now and enjoy with some patience but I think these will benefit from some time in the cellar. Next bottle after 2027. — 4 years ago
Really like Arneis’ just great nose and tastes. This one I drank over a week and just got better and better. Got to get more. — 5 years ago
Smooth, tart, funky, buttery, rich, delicious. The typa whites I like. $24 — 6 years ago

2014 vintage, imbibed Aug/2019. Needed decanting ... very closed at first, practically no nose at all. Began to open up after a half hour to 45 minutes. Eventually - good fruit, big body, but tannins well controlled. I had my doubts at first, but ended up really enjoying with a hearty beef dinner. — 6 years ago
Popped and poured. Consumed over 90 minutes. Beautifully scented with cherries, raspberries, dried herbs, tar, and freshly bloomed magnolias on the nose. Flavors of tart cherries, black tea, and earth. I sort of expected this to come across more modern but this was actually rather charming! Tannin is well integrated. Good acid. Finish lasts for about 30 seconds. Drinking just fine right now but should hold well into the next decade. — 8 years ago
Very acidic with pear notes — 6 years ago
Dark fruit, tinge of shiitake mushroom, give it an hour for the funk to mellow — 6 years ago
I love this wine. Leather, soil, cocoa, prune, touch of smoke, black tea, some cherry and cranberry, full of Nebbiolo tar & dried roses. Silky but with lush tannins. From Moore Bros. in Industry City. — 7 years ago
Tasted at the Pittsburgh wine festival. I’ll try to rate more of the wines I tasted but for now, here’s my fave Barolo of the night. 🌹 #pghwinefestival — 8 years ago

Having purchased several bottles, I wanted to give this a test run. Let it decant for two hours and indeed, she rewarded me. A huge nose of dried red flowers, violets, cranberry, cherry, a hint of earth and tar. Drinking fairly well now but she needs to lay for a few years to fully reward you. Carema is a wonderful region for Nebbiolo! — 8 years ago

The best from Sardinia, one of the best Grenache I have ever had. Crazy complex, persistent and expressive nose and palate. Texturallly reminiscent of those sandy soiled, fine tannin ala Chateau Rayas. — 4 years ago
