Furmint 2017

Unique flavor profile: honey, elderflower, apricot, and wet stone. Weighty but still soft and delicate, lifted and aromatic. — 13 days ago

Fantesca

All Great Things Freedom Red Blend 2016

Full, dry, balanced. Big, bold, but not overpowering in anyway. Dark fruit forward, red berries on the finish. Lovely wine from Heidi Barrett. — 2 years ago

Weissburgunder 2018

All hail, winter whites 🙌🏻🙌🏻.
An ideal pairing with a buttery, flakey, whole wheat chard, mushroom & ricotta galette. Great acid. Pear, lemon zest, butter, barely ripe white nectarine, a touch a marzipan/canided almond/candied pineapple and a pristine zing on the finish. Heidi Schrock is a master at her craft. Right now I’m loving these zingy whites (and a little RS doesn’t hurt so sue me)

Revana Family Vineyard

St. Helena Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

What an absolute joy! A generous gift from an old friend, well cellared and in its prime. I think this is what Heidi was thinking when she made the wine. Perfumed aroma, silky on the palate, lots of spice, great acidity really balanced. Pure joy in the glass. I wish more folks had this experience of beautifully aged Napa Valley Cabernet. Then they wouldn’t drink these gems too young. Thanks Richard! — 7 months ago

Nostalgie Naturelle Pét Nat Pinot Blanc Vol. 2 2018

This is a really mellow summer wine. Not quite champagne fizz but more than a tzaokilina. Worth another round — a year ago

Fantesca

Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2018

Finally getting around to posting wines from my annual Napa trip from two weeks ago. Always goes by quick! Lots of fun new stops this year.

The Fantesca property on Spring Mtn is gorgeous, and their tasting room at the winery is stunning. Really enjoyed getting to try more of their wines.

I’m really picky on chardonnay, but this was intoxicating. It’s crazy young, but this is going to vault up the scale for me. First comparison that comes to mind is Aubert’s Larry Hyde & Sons, but with a touch less acidity (still plenty). This is supremely balanced. Honeyed stone fruits, lemon cream, and a slate/mineral note on the nose. Rich without being too dense. Vibrant. Powdered sugar lemon bar, meringue, and honey roasted cashews. This was (or may still be), the only chardonnay Heidi Barrett makes.
