Dom Perignon 1964, in magnum, shared today with Jacques Pepin on a Global Express 5000 to the Aspen Classic. I brought a Spanish porron (i.e., wine bong) and Jacques was game. Incredibly, the Champagne still had bubble, along with terrific hazelnut, brioche flavors. The landing was extra smooth and Jacques – In his cool broken English – said he thought it was because the flight attendant must have slipped him some of the DP. Fine by me. Best pre-1970's Champagne I've had.

First red wine of the tasting and third wine in flight one for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight.

Deep opaque ruby red. Dark fruity nose with black currants and black cherries. Strong earthiness and stoney note undertones. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and medium bodied. Sweet spices and dusty on the front end. Followed by a touch of dark cocoa and herbal notes such as eucalyptus. Slatey long finish. Drink till 2032. — 9 years ago

Fourth flight. I've had many good 2011's so I don't feel I'm biased, but when compared to the rest this wine was the consensus this was the worst of the bunch. It's not a bad wine, lean, red fruits, short clipped finish. — 10 years ago
