Graceful and not at all bretty. Still has a few years to go!

Out of a magnum. A bit Bretty. A bit more subdued than the 1995, more developed overall. Nice wine.

Time to drink this. My Veteran's Day wine for my first holiday since retiring from the military. Leather, garrigue, dark fruits, and a fine incense aroma. 1994 has a higher percentage of Mourvèdre than is typical of Beaucastel. Tasting better than the pundits said this wine would.

1994: a favorite (unheralded) vintage, so much class, so much funk

1994: No one talks about it, but it is sooo good & drinks like a great red Burg on steroids

Not as great as the 85s but still deliciously earthy. I don’t think more time would have helped this one.
