Dunn Vineyards

Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2006

1.5 hour decant(surprisingly just a little cloudy sediment). A prodigious medium dark garnet color with little signs of aging. On the nose: funky stewed meats, blackberry, smoke, plum, minty pepper, creme de cassis. Taste: KABOOM! Rich, silky, full body wine with blackberry, earth, cedar, wet gravel, menthol and a cassis pencil lead long finish with some ashy tannins. In its prime drinking window and this 13.8% alc wine should rock another 10 years. Cheers! — 5 years ago

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2012

The 2012 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is comprised of of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot made by François-Xavier Borie, oenologist Christel Spinner and consulting oenologist Eric Boissenot. The vines at Grand-Puy-Lacoste are 38 years old and are set on gravel soils. The wine needs more than a two hour decant to unveil ripe creme de cassis, anise and graphite flavors with lighter earthy tones. Bright and focused, this is just an infant now. 9.0

Medium purplish red. Dark spices on the nose, bitter cocoa, oak barrel, some animal nuances, light cherries, a touch smoky and crushed gravel. Tight on the tannins (6.5/10) not yet rounded. Complex palate yet tight as well with notes of raw twigs, bramble berries, anise, spices, dried cherries, a touch of alcohol and pepper. Long finish with definite potential to improve once the palate rounds out. Drink till 2024. — 8 years ago

Château Montrose

Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

Delectable Wine
10

The 2019 Montrose is very clearly one of the wines of the vintage. Rich, inky and towering in concentration, the 2019 possesses off the charts intensity and tons of structure to back it up. Succulent black cherry, plum, tobacco, gravel and licorice infuse the 2019 with striking depth. The 2019 is not quite as opulent as some recent vintages, and that's a good thing. Readers will find a regal wine that marries elegance with power. Unforgettable. Tasted two times. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, February 2022)

The Vow Gravel Series Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon 2014

First time having this one, its a very nice bottle.
Stats, $225.00 release, $75.00 on K&L sale makes it even better!

And finally, there’s The Vow, which in this observer’s opinion is the marquee offering of the ’14 Gravel Series. Sourced from a narrow strip of rocky soil that runs through the South East corner of Round Pond’s Rutherford vineyard, T

Château d'Issan

Margaux Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend

Rim to rim unvaried black. The charred tips of coffee rye. Cooked, black olives, wood mushrooms, dried black mix of sand and loam. Exsiccated black cherry, espresso, and bitter chocolate. Medium mouthfeel filled with variegated tannins evoke a murky shoreline tumble. Chamomile and dark cigar, cinnamon stick, salty, dried violets, river rocks freshly shattered, a dark look of scorn from a resentful moon and burnt parchment. #margaux #margauxmoments #MargauxWestYoungMan #DoNotPassMargaux #leftbank #Bordeaux #bordeauxlovers #ChateauDIssan — 8 years ago

Château L'Evangile

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 1961

Tasted blind. Reddish tawny color, seems younger than previous bottles in the glass. Youthful nose. Notes of black cherry, hickory, plums, gravel, black truffles, some smoke and some unsweetened dark chocolate. Silky and light on its feet despite the youthfulness of its presence. Debate ensues if this is right or left bank. We settle on a guess of 61 Cheval Blanc. While the 61 Tratanoy is all about the mouth feel, this is all about the incredible nose and its youthfulness.
