Very good, nice vine :) — 8 years ago
This bottle of Krug had the vine motif on the label that dates it to the "no Krug, no thanks" era. My guess is that it was based on a harvest between 1997-2000, so likely pre-LVMH. The wine was spectacular. The butterscotch and brioche nose as well as the brassy color were signs of patient, tender cellaring. Texturally, this Krug was as good as any wine I have ever had, velvety and full. The back end exploded with chalk, nuts and a complex array of dried fruit. The finish went on and on. Cellar some Grand Cuvée- you won't be disappointed. — 8 years ago
Mix of juicy dark fruit layers. Plums, cherries, currants, lots of spices, violet, and mineral notes throughout. Very fine and elegant and approachable. Avg. vine age 67 years. — 9 years ago
this is pure delight, a superbly racy minx of a riesling. it has an intense core of fruit: candied pineapple, grated ginger, and orange zest, accompanied by a cascading waterfall of shimmering acidity. my kind of candy. if you have more than one bottle, drink one now and save the others 5+ years. this is built to last. it's a blend of young vine Brand and Sommerberg Grand Cru juice and worth every penny. #alsace #riesling — 10 years ago
What a great suggestion from Vine of this uber brut , nearly tart loveliness . Wow — 10 years ago
One of the tastiest champagnes in a while. 90 year old vine field blend. Singular and delicious! — 10 years ago
Syltigt, småsträvt och kryddigt, med spännande toner av blodgrape och björnbär. Grovt tillyxat renässansvin, nästan burleskt. Gott! — 11 years ago
Another rocking old vine ardhuy 2010 corton Charlie. For the dudes that look at this label-it's the La Vigne Dieu bottling. Sick juice! — 11 years ago
Excellent vine — 12 years ago
Popped and poured. This is in a much more fun spot than last year. The nose is a big bowl of blackberries and a bit of sandalwood which I found very intriguing and quite delightful to be completely frank. Delicious wine with dense dark fruits and some spice on the palate. This bottle did not come across hot like some notes from others have indicated. Tannin is still a touch firm but it's definitely well within the range of enjoyment at this point. Finishes with a flourish, lasting for 30 seconds. Again, the Alexis Establet comes through as a consistent and overall wonderful representation of 100% old-vine Grenache from the appellation. Drink now or enjoy over the next 3-5 years. — 8 years ago
1 of the best BdeB I tasted, made from less than 2 acres Belles Voyes vineyard in Oger, vines planted in 1920’s, juice aged in old casks pre-bottling. Compare to those $350 boutique bottles! Showing 100-year old vine complexity, nice aromatics fine bubbles, tantalizing mousse, intense bouquet of ripe fruit. Creamy flavor of white flesh fruits, apple and pear, chalky mineral qualities, lemons with an underlying sweetness. Elegant, well balanced, bright acidity, minerality, lingering tangy finish! Enjoy 4th! — 8 years ago

Iron fist in spiked leather glove. Big, licorice-y, mostly Malbec...but saved by its 100+ year-old-vine lift, refinement and balance. An NFL left tackle in a tutu. — 9 years ago
Awesome Cali Chard that drinks like Grand Cru White Burgundy. 2013 is another awesome year! Tropical fruits with just a kiss of oak. Treating my daughter and future on the back deck at home! Vine Hills Best from Kistler. CB 95+ — 9 years ago
Tasted like it was fresh off the vine even though it was a 64. Wonderfully full and still in tact tannins, bright fruit, medium to full bodied deliciousness. — 10 years ago
All old vine Verzenay, about 2/3 Pinot Noir and 1/3 Chardonnay, all from massal selections. Unbelievable focus, cut, chalky power and length, with the signature hazelnut flavors that can be easily mistaken for wood. Patrick Arnould made a tiny us nitty of this, not to sell, but only to give away! — 11 years ago
The 14 Chablis are really good. This Louis Michel is no different. An excellent example of little intervention of good fruit. This producer uses no oak; which I really appreciate. After you start to appreciate good Burgundy, CA Chardonnays aren't that interesting. Not that I don't ever drink or enjoy some CA Chardonnay producers, I just prefer the cooler climate Chardonnays that don't use new oak. This 14 was clean through and through. Bright citrus, peach, touch of green apple, soft minerality, touch of saline, creamy texture and beautiful round acidity and ripe, elegant finish. Photos of, Louis Michel vineyard, vineyard heat sources to protect the vine buds during their sometimes difficult Spring weather/frosts, Guillaume Michel (Owner/Winemaker) and their Domaine. Producer notes and history...It was largely believed that Michel family had only been cultivating Chablis since 1850. More on that in a bit. The winery is situated right in the heart of the village with 25 hectares spread over the very first slopes that were discovered by Cistercian monks in the 11th century. 40 years ago, the family decided to stop making the wine in wooden barrels, preferring to create clean, pure and precise Chablis without adding artificial woody tastes. I've said it more than once and I'll say it again, if you have good white grapes, strong wood use only covers up good fruit flavor or hides mistakes either in the vineyard or cellar, baring a stylistic choice. Through this philosophy, combined with the limited yields inspired by organic wine-growing techniques, the Domaine has developed a worldwide reputation for fine wine-making in stainless steel tanks. Today, the Domaine is managed by Jean-Loup Michel and his nephew, Guillaume Michel, who is continuing the family tradition. The importance of their work in the vineyards cannot be overstated. Guillaume Michel is a firm believer in the philosophy that if you do a good job in the vineyard, 90 per cent of the work is done when the grapes arrive at the winery. This statement could not be more true in my opinion. It his grandfather who started the philosophy, Guillaume has only continued it and evolved it with modern changes equipment etc.. It’s a matter of preserving the authenticity of each terroir...working with very pure and clean wines. They understand and like to work differences in terroir. Making it very important to have the same vinification for all the different terroirs. It is important to have an aromatically neutral vinification. Up until recently it was believed that the winemaking history of the family began in 1850, but thanks to Guillaume’s mother and her genealogical pursuits the date has been moved back to at least 1640. Around that time a winemaker from nearby Tonnerre settled in Chablis, marking the beginning of the families venture in Chablis. Domaine Louis Michel covers a total of 25 hectares. A very large part (15 hectares) is the domaine’s premier crus. In addition to that there is two hectares of Petit Chablis vines, six hectares of village Chablis and two hectares of grand crus. Vaudesír is the families biggest grand crus. Vaudesír is interesting because it is actually a valley. One side facing south, very hot, producing concentrated and powerful wines. In Grenouilles, Domaine Louis Michel has half a hectare at the top of the slope. This nine hectare grand cru is just over 7 hectares and is owned by the cooperative La Chablisienne. Vaudesír and Grenouilles are quite similar in terms of soil. Vaudesír has a bit more of clay. Les Clos, their third grand cru, is very rocky. Les Clos is the typical Kimmeridgian soil of Chablis. If you're like me and enjoy your white wine with good clean fruit rather than with oak or too much oak but haven't tried Louis Michel wines, pick up a bottle. I think you'll fall in love with the style and the value as many are under $30.

A delicious Grand Cru Alsatian Riesling from Schlumberger. The Saering 2011 is fine-tuned and surprisingly powerful. Grown in marl-limestone-sandstone soils, where vine roots burrow deep, the countenance of this wine one of white peaches and lemon curd, complicated by a pretty, herbaceous veneer. On the palate, it's lush and creamy, with decadent layers of orchard fruit hemmed in by stoniness and spice. The perception here is one of dryness, but there is ample concentration and body too. 3.9 g/l RS 13.32% ABV Sample — 9 years ago
Very good Brut BdeB. Green apple, lemon, flowers, fine but strong bubbles and solid enough to go with food. Escalope de fois de canard, legumes d'ete au satay, Lieu jaune, chorizo iberique con case ecume de lait, a la nepita. — 10 years ago
An amazing experience of power and eloquence. Precise perlage accented by a beautiful, creamy mousse. This is full-bodied and intimidating to novices. Toasted cashew, ham, incredibly textured by yeast, red flowers and a squeeze of Granny Smith apple to drive the finishing fruit and acidity — 10 years ago
