Toller Chateau-neuf du Pape. Degu SHL — a year ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner which lasted a couple do hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of powerful ripe red and dark fruit: black brambles, dark cherries, black pepper, boozy Christmas fruitcake, licorice, garrigue, leather and rocky earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with sneaky medium+ tanning that build with air. The acid is there too although I wouldn’t call it the main character. It does, however, play a strong supporting roll. Definitely a wine of texture. It has been a handful of years since my last bottle of the 2015 and it’s evolving very nicely! Secondary flavors are starting to show and everything remains balanced. Extended air did get it to freshen up a bit so I’d say this still has a long life ahead. Drink now with a healthy decant and through 2035. — 9 months ago
Earthy, terroir nose. Opened nicely. Palette- enjoyable , long finish, medium tannins . After one hour, improved, earthiness is a nice change from Napa cabs. — 3 years ago
Really delicious for just sipping, with cheese, and with pizza — 3 years ago
@Ellen Clifford said it all 9 years ago and this is still going strong! Spicy, soulful, warming on an unseasonably cool spring night — 5 months ago

Lovely Grenache nose
Palate: sweet fruit. Well made. — 5 months ago
One of my bottles from my annual WWC hosting. Part of a Grenache flight (including ‘19 Rotie Cellars “Big G”, ‘19 Saint-Damien Souteyrades Gigondas, ‘18 Andremily Grenache).
80% Grenache/ 20% Mourvèdre
I’m a fan of this Gigondas producer and think the wines exhibit an excellent value. After the first two Grenache wines, we take a dark (profile) turn here. Classical garrigue, dark potpurri, and spiced blackberries aromatically, with some leather and tobacco as well. Dark black fruits dominate the palate surrounded by bitter dark chocolate, black pepper, hint of charcoal and mineral. Concentrated but not sweet. In a delicious window now but benefitted from the air it got…no rush. — 6 months ago
Smooth and quintessentially Rhône. Went with a delayed Easter lamb, asparagus, avocado based salad and potatoes with butter. 22/4-2025 — 6 months ago
