Does Bordeaux get any better than this? Dark fruit, cedar, spice, plus a bit of eucalyptus and old leather. A classic and long lived wine that is showing no signs of fading. It is at its absolute peak of perfection. Don’t waste it on dinner, just pick a few beautiful cheeses, your closest friends and enjoy every sip! — 5 years ago
While it is not a reserve build, this still sees plenty of oak...malo is avoided here. I like its fresh Chard fruit vibe and viability...acid is key here — 6 years ago

Like always a true gentleman, somewhat lean but very sophisticated. Silky wine with fruit preserved. Very little signs of evolution. Very aristocratic but lacks some flesh. Still very enjoyable. — 6 years ago
Super dark ruby red. A bit of complexity on the nose with cinnamon, cedar, earth, herbs, a bit toasty and touch of red berries. Rounded and medium tannins (6/10). Medium bodied with notes of spices, dust, strawberries and cherries. Medium plus finish and well balanced. Drink till 2023.
Made up of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Merlot. Aged for 20 months in 40% new French oak, and then an additional 6 months in the bottle prior to release. Only 308 cases produced.|Sample provided by Winery, retail price is $85.00. — 8 years ago
Very intense. Powerful gunpowder, flint, lime. A dazzling and broad midpalate. Really juicy and focused with none of the over-ripeness you sometimes see in 05. Killer. No signs of premox and will probably kick ass in 20 years on this showing. — 8 years ago

Double decanted before service; enjoyed over a several hour period. The 1988 pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and significant signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with dried dark fruit, tobacco, mocha, grilled meat, mushrooms, damp earth and baking spices. On the palate, the wine is dry. At this point, the tannins have integrated completely and are perceived as medium; acid is similar. Finish is medium. This leaned towards the more rustic, old school style of Bordeaux and I’m all for it. While this isn’t falling off a cliff, I would drink now. — a year ago
