Recently tasted 9.8.21, 7.28.21 and 6.1.21. Like the old Van Morrison album...a period of transition. Mid-palate a tad dumbed-down but the nose is clearer and airy with spearmint and tobacco. Some new cinnamon/clove infiltrating the bouquet and palate now. Still a little richness/baby fat/smoke lurking about but said intensities increasing less every time tasted. Really need to lock and key this until 2030. Good luck. — 4 years ago

The 82 white horsie!! 🥳 Very mellow notes of cigar spice, frankincense, cinnamon stick, bubblegum, cut grass on the nose. Deep-brick, thick, viscous red with black pepper teriyaki jerky, juicy strawberry, ripe cherries and plums on the palate with hints of almond extract, blood orange, and bacon fat on a long lingering finish. The 2016 is out - and it doesn’t disappoint!!!Medium-bodied but mouth filling showing freshly picked cherries, leather and bacon fat. A memorable finish. One of my favorite wines, one of the most reliable. Huge QPR and one you should always have on hand. A little pricey for an everyday house wine, but it’s always worth it. Pale yellow white in color. Floral, baby carrot, tropical fruit, and cream soda/orange soda notes in nose. Pineapple and lemon notes in mouth, slight veg (mustard greens?), some orange and tangerine on finish. Good neutral cleansing acid, dry, some moderate weight astringency on tongue in finish. A lot going on, suitable food wine but works fine for easy drinking before dinner as well — 9 years ago

A stellar pull from @Dan Fitzgerald ! It has so much going on and it’s all harmonious. Dark chocolate drizzled raspberries and black cherries, smoked brisket and bacon fat and just a touch of funk. It was dense all the way through but had plenty of acidity to keep it from being flabby. Savory and mineral driven towards the finish. This has plenty of life but is in a wonderful drinking window. — 7 years ago

About damn time I had a cote rotie, and this was a damn good place to start. An impeccably balanced wine with less meatiness than I expected. A bright ripeness of raspberries keeps it from a burgeoning doom overripe plummy wild berry darkness. A good amount of pepper makes a showing on the nose as well and as it oxidizes our raspberries gain an intriguing caramel quality. Along with the slightest whiff of VA are duck fat, dark cocoa and organic earth. A solid medium body makes this a wine to sit an enjoy with a friend as the bottle opens and evolves. — 8 years ago
