Absolute perfection. I've chased the ghost of this wine since the first time I tasted it almost 2 yrs ago and was hopeful this bottle would show as well as the first. It did. Silky, still great fruit, mushroom, leather, truffles and tobacco. The finish was accompanied by heavenly harps with notes of unicorn tears. Epic stuff that remains one of the greatest wines I've ever had the privilege of tasting. Was slightly tight upon opening but after an hour it exploded in the glass. — 9 years ago

So, on this, my 45th birthday, I brought a 1964 Scavino to dinner that I bought in ALBA, IT. It was dead. Like, dead dead. So, out came the wine list and we ended up with this 2006 Conterno. It was terrific. I love both producers and we all know that 1964 was epic so I took a chance, but 55 years proves too many for this particular bottle. We had a splendid evening and the nubile 13 year old Conterno was simply exquisite. — 6 years ago
Epic and still pumping — 8 years ago
This may go down as red wine of the year for me. Which given the time of year and upcoming events is High Praise indeed. But none the less reality. Epic nose. The unmistakable smell of a slaughterhouse over summer. Meat and blood. A huge hit of licorice, leather, and smoke and cherries. The Finish lasted nearly a minute, and had a Mossy granite tone to it that reminded me of climbing in the gunks in the fog. Amazing. So fortunate to have been asked to share this with great friends. #poolwine — 8 years ago

17 is gonna blow some minds. Huge nose of blackberry fruit, classic, deep granite, menthol and even pine. So aromatic. Smells deep. Incredible power and concentration. Superb freshness and depths. Loads of blackberry and deep rich fruit. Awesome acids. Amazing purity. Epic value. Terrific structure and depth. Will age 15+ years. — 7 years ago

Another 4th Friday for the books! Insane pulls this month to follow up the most epic month (April) that we’ve ever had!
Butterscotch, sopapilla seasoning, toasted pita on the nose. Palate reminded me a bit of a Ritchie chard! Nuttiness to it. Honeyed but not tart or sugar driven. Simply delicious. — 8 years ago

A genius Klingelberger. What a nose. So floral. Flower shop levels. Little shop of insane dry Riesling. Gorgeous Mosel like fruit. Smells ripe and sweet but also bone dry. Green apples. Pear. Apricot. So vivid and detailed. Just wonderful. Lime blossom, sweet lime. Endless aromas. Fresh field level 10. But also rock quarry. Staggering young Klingelberger aromas. Palate is epic like a Norwegian Viking documentary epic. Dense, structured, deep man is this deep with just stunning purity and freshness. So vivid and so detailed. This is god level balance. So long. Never ends. The purity of this wine is just incredible. Amazing finesse and elegance and screamingly mineral and very very complex on the finish. This is a staggering young Klingelberger. 9.7. Yup. Just genius. Amazing concentration and depth. Really I can’t get over how good this is. — 6 years ago
