A delight. Ocean saltiness, a hint of tropical fruit, good body and acidity. — 6 years ago
This is one of the simplest inexpensive but incredible wines I have had. A true delight! — 7 years ago
This afternoon at lunch we had open the 2011 Chateau Lynch Bages. 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. A very productive and enjoyable lunch.
At open the nose was quite muted. We had to vigorously swirl in order to get the notes of dark fruit, dark cherry, chocolate, tobacco, herbal notes, and a minerality.
On the palate the dark cherry comes through nicely with dark plum following to the mid palate, blackberry, black currant, tobacco, a fine licorice and mocha.
This is a full bodied wine with medium + acidity, medium + chewy tannins which leads to a long enjoyable finish. It all worked together well with the New York Strip Steak that was a true delight.
Continue having a wonderful week and please, nothing is more important then your safety. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 years ago
Third wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium ruby red with a dark core. Honestly, was very surprised with this. Seemed more New World over Old World. Tons of sweet spices, loaded dark juicy berries, and definitely some oaky influence as well. Balanced acidity and heavy tannins (7/10). Light red fruit like red currants on the palate with some stoney and woody characteristics. Medium plus body with a long finish. Definitely a baby and needs some time to hopefully improve. Drink till 2035. — 8 years ago
This was a delight... the '05 is drinking so we'll right now it felt like much more of a "special" bottle than its price point. I need more of this! Had lots of sediment... def. decant for an hour or more. — 8 years ago
The 2010 ‘Brookman’ Shiraz is a sinfully good effort from this outstanding vintage in South Australia. Aromatically ripe and intense, the Shiraz unveils tar, mocha, blueberry compote and shades of Black Forest Cake that all meld together in the glass. The palate is chewy and plush, showing not only serious viscosity but a wonderful sense of tension that runs through the core of the wine. Ripe black and blue flavors combine with bright acidity to make this simply irresistible at the nine year mark. While a delight to savor now, the 2010 ‘Brookman’ Shiraz will cellar well for at least another eight to ten years. — 6 years ago
Tried this a year ago, wow, still nice! Bodega Catena Zapata is one of Argentina's high altitude Malbec pioneers. The Catena family began making wine in Mendoza in 1902. A delight to taste this wine. Straw with green edges, a blend from several vineyards, 80% from Uco, packed with aromas of rich stone fruits with citrus and floral notes. Flavors of peach, apple and Asian pear with toasty character. Well balanced, generous acidity, crisp on lingering finish ending with a gorgeous mineral tang. — 7 years ago
A beautiful, cloudy amber in the glass. Tastes like juicy apple cider with a bit of effervescence and an herbal edge. Light to medium body with a dry finish. Not quite as funky an orange as I was hoping for but a true summertime delight. — 7 years ago
Some woody notes amongst an ocean of lychee. I guess the oak gives another dimension but I think I might prefer stainless steel and let this beautiful Gewürztraminer fruit speak on its own. Fruit from Toppers Mountain at Tingha in New England - must be the best in Australia IMO. On the palate Turkish Delight of profound intensity with spice. Finishes Dry. Brilliant! Tasted 69 weeks later on 13th October 2018 with consistent notes. Cannot see how cellaring will improve this in any way. Great drinking now - without the barrel ferment. Tasted again on 20th May with 2 of my siblings Gillian and Mike with their spouses. Consistent notes. Still prefer without the oak. Tasted the final one on 8th December 2019 with consistent notes. Would be easy to pick blind with all that lychee and Turkish Delight. Tasted again 157 weeks later on 21st June 2020 with consistent notes. Textbook Gewurztraminer. A great white for winter - textural and mouth filling. — 8 years ago

First wine in flight three for the Bordeaux Master's Class at Heart's Delight with all wines from Margaux.
Medium to deep ruby red. Layered nose with an attack of blackberries and cinnamon. Followed by an undertone of red cherries. Heavy tannins (7/10) with a touch gritty in texture, almost like a soft sandpaper. Quite a bit of a acidity but still balanced with notes of yeast, sweet spices, cinnamon, vanilla, and dark black fruits. Dry medium plus to full body with a long finish. Drink till 2037+. The 2012 ‘Laurene’ Pinot Noir by the talented Veronique Drouhin is a stunning effort at now seven years of age. Very pretty red rose petals aromas connect with shades of peat moss, white truffle shavings and black fruits, with smoky undertones that round out this fantastic nose. The palate has an incredible combination of freshness and richness, with gobs of minerality. The balance imparted is gorgeous, as vibrant minerals collide with ripe red cherry, guava, teaberry and cran-pomegranate flavors. While a delight to enjoy now, this is only starting to come of age. Deep ruby red. A bit of heat on the nose with toasty notes, cinnamon and cassis. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium to full bodied. Palate has nose of red cherries and some earthiness. Still a baby. Dry and long finish. Drink from 2020 till 2035. — 8 years ago
